Menston near Ilkley

I took the Queens shilling and joined the Army as a Junior Leader. I remember how proud I felt and a few day's later seeing my parents cry as they waved me off at Leeds City station on route to Norton Manor camp in Taunton.

Three years later they were attending my passing out parade and there was I, Junior Company Sergeant Major of 'B' Company.

The memory, the pride.
