So went to my first party last night

It was a real let down

Meet a lovely couple for coffee a few weeks ago and we got on really well and I got invited to their party last night...

I was nervous and excited at going as I thought I may experience some things I've never done. .

I arrived at the couples house with nice wine etc ...

Was taken into the kitchen introduced to the other couple and the other single girl ...

We sat at the kitchen table all evening and it was really awkward. ..

The two women from the couples chatted to each other and had no interest in including myself and the other girl in the conversation

The two men sat at the other end of the table chatting with each other and occasionally to the wives...

Myself and the other girl didn't even chat to each other

She went and sat in the other room with the hosts dogs...

The hosts and the other couple went upstairs and blasted porn full blast

The other girl went upstairs and came down 5 mind later

I said to her this was all abit uncomfortable and I'm going home

She agreed it was uncomfortable. .

The host ( male) had come down stairs and heard me say that, and started having a real go at me for leaving and telling/ shouting at me I was really rude and a nasty person !!

I kept calm and said that it had probably

been better if they had invited the other couple and no one else and they had wasted my evening....

He started shouting even more at me !!

It was really scary

I've been to one party on my own and found it was quite clique-y and exclusive. Found it very hard to strike up a conversation as everyone seemed to know each other and weren't interested in acknowledging new people. I ended up falling asleep on one of the sofas so it wasn't a wasted night.

I think it takes a bit of work to get into these cliques and I can understand why, but the guy shouting at you seems like a loon. Don't let it get you down!

Thank god for my sister, I couldn't get a taxi, her hubby doesn't drink and the came and picked me up instantly

I'm trying not to let it annoy me, but it has...

I know not all people behave in that way, but it has now put me off wanting to explore :-/

It's hard to beat intuition at times.. not that anything bad was necessarily going to happen. But if you're not comfortable, getting offside isn't a bad idea.

To be honest am a little surprised you went to a party when you had only met them for a social, I know I would be a little wary myself

I've been to a couple of meetings where I've felt like 'what am I doing here, and what's the quickest way of getting out', on one occasion when after I walked into the living room, as soon as I did the husband pushed the sofa in front of the door and then closed all the curtains, gotta admit my snipit mussel went into overtime at that point! But after all the meets that I have had, fortunately I've only felt uncomfortable and unsure a couple of times.

After reading your experience last night it's totally understandable that you feel that way, the hosts should never of made you feel like that, and to actually stand there and shout, or raise their voice in a way that makes you feel threatened is inexcusable. If I were you, I would report them, there is no excuse for that kind of shit

one thing is how rude they were as hosts - another is couples need to make single fems feel at ease - doesnt sound as if they even introduced you all properly - id definitely have walked

I was such a bizzare situation. ...

When I knocked the door the male host answered and very pleasant, I was brought into the kitchen the female host sat chatting to the other female couple. ..

I sort of stood there and then put the wine I bought for them as a nice gesture

on the kitchen worktop before she even registered to say hello

If you bring someone new into your social group it's an absolute basic you make sure he/she feels comfortable and involve them in the conversation etc.

I agree on reporting them, it may or may not be enough for action to be taken but it will put them on admin's radar in case of something else.

At the end of the day at any meet at any time really one or more of the people present may have second thoughts and should feel quite free and able to leave at any time.
