Hi ladies,

What are your experiences with the implant do those of you have got it or had it?

I have recently had one put in, bar a weird mood shift yesterday which I can't put down to the implant as it could just be pre menstrual hormones, and also I am sleeping really heavily at the moment which is very unusual for me. All seems to be ok. However I have heard some not hear experiences. So thought I would ask you lovely lot

Bad for me. Bled intermittently for 6 months, okay for a year then blew constantly for months until I had it removed. Never again.

That's weird that you were ok for a year before having problems again!

I shall be keeping a close eye on what happens .

Yeh, it was fine for the year. The worst bit was the hormonal changes to my mood towards the end. I was a mess.

Hull but travel regularly

I've had 3, one for 5 years the other two for 3 years each. Really liked having it, no issues with periods but not overly keen on the dodgy removal job of one of them - still worth it to be sorted for such a long time. Don't have one now though I wanted to give my body a break.

Thanks, nice to hear a good experience

Stokeish...

I had them for 5 years (2 implants) with no issues at all, light periods etc. Now have a copper coil which periods are heavier on, but I actually prefer the lack of hormones

I had one for three years, I think around 10 years ago. During the three years I had acne for around 18 months and also gained around 3 stone in weight.... but I only had one period the whole time so it was definitely worth it! Lol

I also get an ache in my arm where the implant would have been whenever I'm due, which is weird.

Hope you have a good experience OP X

Every now and then. At the moment I am getting very light periods but can go months without.

Had 3, only contraception I've used myself. Never had any problems with it. May bleed once or twice a year but that's all.

I've had the implant 3 times now. I had it put back in around January and had it removed again in April. Caused very bad acne in me. I've never suffered with spots before. Now it's out the acne's gone. I won't be using that again.

I'm on my third one, greatest thing ever, took about six months for the first one to settle so had minor bleeding every few weeks, after that, no problems

I had a terrible time with the implant. Gave up and had it removed after bleeding almost nonstop for a year and a half.

Though everyone is different.

I have had both and didn't find much difference between them to be honest. Depo was fantastic though, no periods at all

Seems like a number of different experiences. We are all different so I guess I shall have to wait and see.

Thanks for the input ladies

I was ok for the first month then bled continuously for about 8 months, sometimes very light sometimes big clots (tmi sorry) settled down a bit and I was bleeding every couple of weeks. Then bled every few months, I had my next one fitted after 2 1/2 year (early because I'm a big girl). I haven't bled at all since my second one was out in and it will be a year next month. At the time I was very frustrated but more than happy now

Had mine for a year without problems, then suddenly started bleeding as and when it wanted to. Since I have had it my mood shift has been very low and my mojo has all but left me.

I just don't know what else to use (I have tried everything). Xx
