So we have this bloody cold that doesn't want to go. We read about alternative remedies and Ginseng is apparently very good. So we gave it a go.

We didn't realise that one of the side effects is Ginseng increases sex drive. I am delighted

The question for you all is: is there any natural products,food,etc that increase your libido?

I found that once I got through the menopause my libido went through the roof anyway so I try and steer clear of anything that adds to it

Used to take Ginseng in small shot like vials from a Chinese medicine shop before the gym.

Had a nice affect (probably placebo) whilst training and then sexually.

Tasted rank though.

A few people have mentioned so-called horny goat before. It's a common name that's given to any species within the Epimedium genus: so you could get any one of many, many plant species, when you buy this stuff.

Consider the differences between just a few of the plants that we humans eat, that all belong to the same genus:

The Brassica genus contains -

Brassica oleracea L Cabbage

Brassica rapa Turnip

There are many Brassicas, including brussel sprouts. You can assume that these highly different plants have similarly differing chemistry. And you could thus assume that this will be similar within the Epimedium genus, which contains a huge number of different species. And that's if what you get in your herbal tablet is one of these species, as it could likely be anything.

Sure, there's the placebo effect but if you know that you're consuming any one of a huge variety of species, are you really likely to believe it would work?

I used it when cycling years ago, it seemed to help with recovery of an injury.

I used to drink ginseng tea a lot with ginger and lemon, usually before a work out or before a 'special night in'. Really increased my performance in both- not sure if it is a placebo or whether it's just because both are meant to help reduce blood pressure and increase dilation of veins and capillaries.

I find really spicy - and I mean spicy, food helps me perform better for longer. So food with a good amount of ginger, pepper, chilli, cayne or Cajun pepper, paprika,and even garlic help.

Seafood sometimes helps too - I think it's the lean protein in it.

Also, oddly lemon juice in cooking, like if I use it to make a vegetable or meat stock, it really dilates my veins.

Bananas are meant to make guys get harder and stay harder
