Getting it wrong

I have been given a birthday present that holds very little interest for me at all, I have feigned liking it for so long but it really isn't me at all.

It is a track day experience in a car, now to some that is brilliant but it just doesn't interest me at all.

Am I being ungrateful by not liking it?

Has anyone got it wrong with you?

A track day in a car might be a bit difficult when asked if you enjoyed it and run the risk of being given another one next year. How about you just go and try it. You never know it might be good to do something different !

I think its that people tend to buy things they like for others.

I was 29 at the time, I support Liverpool so I used it too clean my car.

Couldn't give it to a Charity shop, because that was where she bought it from.

Giving to charity is best. At least a gift was given, someone thought of them and spent a decent amount of their money. Who cares if it's not perfect.

I find it difficult to buy for people because like me if they actually want something they tend to just buy it.

I try to make gifts meaningful or at least fun.

When I'm given a gift it's always gratefully received and I don't believe in recycling

Go along n try it. Take a few mates along & make an evening of it with food & drinks afterwards. You might actually enjoy it.

Most gifts I get aren't 'me'

I wear COCO and people buy me COCO Mademoiselle (despite the fact it smells NOTHING like I do!).

My mother in law always buys me grotesque jewellry which I know cost her a lot despite it being cheap overpriced crap.

My husband went to America for work and brought me back a KISS t-shirt. I only like TWO Kiss songs from their whole back catalogue! You would think he would surely know that after 20years!?

If anyone wants to give me anything just make it money so I can get something I actually want please!

hahah reminded me - ex bought me a beegees cd he wanted - i dont even like them particularly - went into his car and stayed there

My ex's ability to monumentally screw up pressies was epic. A few examples:

A toilet seat

The DVD of A Bridge Too Far (his fave film which I still haven't seen as he took the DVD back to Iraq with him on his very next tour)

A set of adjustable spanners.

A mini mag light.

My personal favourite was in the early days of dating when he turned up with two bunches of flowers, handed me one and said "They were two for one in the garage and I thought you and *insert wife's name* might like them".

I don't think anyone should complain…somewhere a child in Africa would probably be overjoyed if you gave them a bottle of water we'd use to flush our toilets with (which is actually drinking water , if you think about it)

We mostly a wasteful, ungrateful society & clueless about it

I ended up going to the experience, queuing took longer than the ride lol, it was sitting in a Bentley being driven fast round the top gear track.

It was ok, but at £60 I thought it was a tad over priced.

My aunty used to shop a lit on qvc.

I got the same Leighton Denny nail stuff 3 times... I go for gel polish manicures so no use to me!

And useless evening bags, American make up bags and pvc coated organiser bags..

All went on bay of e.
