I was getting really bad headaches and realised they were being caused by a glade plug in - some scented candles do the same so I stick to the fruitier smelling ones rather than exotic scents as these use more chemicals.

Candles around the bath are so sexy though...

I keep well away from some of the cheap Indian/Chinese incense sticks you see in mystic shops and market stalls, there is something in them (iron oxides?) that can be carcinogenic.

Imported incense is illegal in many American states (I think in Canada too?)

If you get the chance look out for Incense from a company called Wild Berry, it is from the States and it is gorgeous....and safe.

I usually carry a tin of scented candle in my luggage, less messy than oil and sticks.

I have oils and sticks at home though.
