Not quite deja vu ....

Picked the grand chicklets up from after school cookery club for my daughter in law and they asked to come to mine for a couple of hours. Lots of sunshine so I said they should go and play outside. The neighbours kids also headed to mine like bees round the hive (just like the old days) I'm sure they can hear the opening of a rolo dessert from 100 yards away! Anyway they all headed for the lounge and I said nope go get some fresh air and play. I found them later - sat on the patio - wee nintendo DS in hand peering at screens like automatons not a word passing between them. I suppose they were playing outside but I wish parents wouldnt give them such toys at their age..... I got the swing ball out and we had tons more fun. Well I know I did!

What did you all used to play when you got in from school?

Oh I do this when it gets warmer pied piper of kids go to field or park to have a game of rounders or cricket great fun.

oh i was in work today and a group of patients brought a 3 year old in. he amused himself with a ds nintendo device thingymajig on the highest volume. little fecker did me head in, i was soooo pleased when after he did his batman impression round the table for the 20th time and knocked his head. thought that will shut the little fucker up.

when my daughter was little i used to be able to take her to the best of restaurants and she would behave. we would play eye spy and alphabet games. never failed to keep her attention and keep her well behaved.

Swingball or cycling if we were feeling athletic, but my favourite thing was making camps and having "friends" round for tea. Used to make one under a tree in our garden and then make cups out of acorn shells and little mud cakes...

I loved it - we used our imagination a lot and we were lucky enough to live in the countryside so had a huge "playground".

*skips off to find earth and water and a stick*

Years ago we had an old Co-op building, which had holes in the walls where railings had been removed, we used to use them to 'cook' with elderberries, dandelion heads etc etc

A few years ago I inherited the building.
