"Probably a sign that society is still not ready to take domestic violence again men seriously." True; I have come across a couple of cases of " battered husbands"; People refuse to believe that it's possible

"Yes it does seem to imply that it's just men that need to take note of these things. I noticed that too when I first saw it on t.v. " Sexist maybe not the right word but it does seem completely biased in that it's only men who do all of the things featured as examples of abuse. It also only uses heterosexual relationships as an example like these things don't happen in LGBT relationships. Bit odd considering its come from the ukgov equalitys office

"There was a sex education programme based in a school recently. The attitude amongst the boys, in particular, before and during the educational process was illuminating and quite shocking. Their attitudes to sex were predominantly informed by porn and it was both worrying and a bit disturbing. The educational process enabled the girls to be more assertive, the boys to be more empathetic and attitudes definitely shifted. I think the advert is only aimed at addressing this area of concern, I don't think it is great, but that's with an adult hat on. We have to remember it is probably aimed at teenagers and as such may speak to them better than it does to us. The website is certainly more comprehensive but is still very much aimed at teenagers. Frankly I am glad they are working to address it and hope the campaign will expand to cover other areas of concern too." Hmmm well it may be aimed at teenagers but what it says to those teenagers is men are abusive and women are victims of male abuse. It doesnt take into account same sex relationships or the fact that women can be abusive in the same ways. It also kind of says that if you are a teenage boy in an abusive relationship you should just put up with it.

I didn't see it imply boys should just put up with it, but you are right in it is very one-sided. If that is the only advert they do then I think it has seriously omitted other issues. I hope that those issues are also addressed in further adverts. The length of an advert is limited and I am hoping it is the constraints of the media and not a seriously biased oversight is the cause.

"Ah, now I know what it is Tbh I think it's a pretty awful advert, and implies/ insinuates that it is young males that are the problem But, on another side topic, I think the "talking hands" are pretty awful, and look like something out of a self harm video " The talking hands is ridiculous. They seem to make some incredibly stupid adverts.

It states and gives examples of boys/men being abusive to girls/women it does not state or give examples of girls/women being abusive to boys/men. It therefore fails to recognise this happens. If a govt info film on abuse doesnt recognise boys/men can also be victims then as a male victim what are you supposed to think or do.
