Is anyone else having trouble with their child's school placement. My friend has 8 year old twins at the school in our village, she has been told her 4 year old has not been given a place at foundation and has to go to the nearest school which is 4 miles away to next village. How on earth can she be two places at once to take them

Most schools have siblings, as first preference after those who have Special Educational Needs or are looked after children. Is their policy different at that school? I guess it is.

She might be able to get a place at the local school later on in the year. Makes sure she gets on the waiting list for one. It's not nice for the child to switch schools though.

Can a friend with kids at the same school take the twins?

I have said I will take them but my kids are up and just about finished school so thought that was all behind me. She has appealed to County Hall but they have said it wont make any difference to their decision

Well done you for offering to take them. I think she should go ahead with the appeals process anyway. There is always some wiggle room with school numbers .... if you persist.

Sometimes appeals do work!! Get on the school or County website to see what the admission criteria is & fight for a place.

She should be entitled to free transport for the youngest as such a large distance from home to school.

Alternatively, move the twins so all 3 in 1 school. Not ideal but an easier life for everyone x

Did she make the application for a place good and early.

No good applying after everyone else has.

First choice generally goes to those with siblings.

Doncaster

I've got twins and my local school originally only offered a place to one of them, luckily (well in a way) my twins suffer from separation anxiety from each other so a quick doctors note and my own relentlessness has got my other child placed or I would have likely had them same problem and we can't split ourselves in two
