Have the new year resolutionaries fallen by the wayside yet, it's time for me to get back to the gym, it's time to build kinky butler 3.0

First time around I went from 25 stone down to 14 stone but I have put quite a bit back on, this time it's not about saving my life, it's about pure vanity so I'm finding it harder to get motivated plus my age is making it harder to lose weight than it was the last time

So it's time to get serious, I need a good gym, and some nutritional resources so if anyone has any it would be appreciated

It is hard, I admit. I lost a stone after Christmas but then stalled.

Need a kick up the backside to get motivated again, and it's not the exercise I struggle with its eating healthily.

And again, it's not lack of knowledge, it's willpower x

Why do you need a good gym or "nutritional" advice ?

First thing you need to do is look at your diet.

Cut out the crap and processed foods, and eat smaller portions keeping a food diary helps.

You can introduce exercise in many forms, walking, cycling or swimming. Especially as the days are getting longer and brighter you should have no excuse to hey outside and just be more active

Once you've started to lose weight again them maybe look at those other things

Isn't that nutritional advice that you just posted there?

I need a good gym, because I want to go to the gym, past experience dictates that the act of going to the gym guarantees that I will do my workout, and I need a good one because bad ones are a waste of money

Breakfast muffins - muesli, apricots, eggs, almond milk.

No dairy, no sugar - low GI carbs.

Now get them out before they burn !!!

Well you need localised recommendations then rather than asking on here.

As far as equipment is concerned a gym is a gym is a gym.

It's the knowledge of how to use it effectively for You that you need.

You could try HIT?

Unless the equipment is falling apart, and I know how to use the equipment, that's not an issue, and if you mean HIIT then yeah, I might give it a go.

I feel your pain!

I was over 170kg, almost house bound, diabetic...in a real state until my ex-husband said he was worried about me. I was worried about me as I threw up in the street and nearly fainted after walking about half a mile.

Low carb/sodium/fat diet (Google is your friend for finding tasty, varied recipes). Didn't drink my calories so black coffee replaced cappuccinos and water fruit juice. Added lots of green, leafy veg with meals and didn't eat carbs after six.

Joined a gym and moved more. Simple things like taking the stairs instead of lifts. Instead of direct train to work change, which meant four flights of stairs but only added five minutes to travelling time. Using the upstairs loo instead of the downstairs one etc. Lost 60kg in a year, diabetes reversed, cholesterol normal, blood pressure normal, met my other half...now it's slowly but surely coming back on and I can't seem to halt it!

My daughter gets married in five months, I retire in six and go on holiday in nine with three hot, fit friends, two of them blokes. I want to get fit for vanity reasons so refocusing on me.

I've lost it before as have you. Focus on you, set yourself goals and factor in "treats" to enable you to stay on track. If you exclude things you like you're more likely to not stick to it.

Good luck!

Exercise helps you stick to a healthy eating plan. I can't eat healthily unless I'm working out regularly.

I don't go to a gym, I use a high intensity exercise DVD at home, and it's only 20 mins a day but I'm seeing good results! If you're very fit and want to try DVDs, check out the Insanity workouts.

I find it easier and less time consuming to workout at home.

For eating, a nutribullet has saved my life. A green smoothie is mega fast to make and stops me eating crap.

And drink lots of water.

For motivation, maybe have a date in the future in mind? A holiday you want to look good for? A club visit? A party?

Something 2 months - ish time.

The summer motivates me - I want to wear hotpants!

And stick a photo on the fridge. It could be of a really fit body you'd like to obtain for yourself. Or even of yourself when you were fitter, or even you at your biggest point?

(I've heard eating whatever you like, but naked in front of a mirror works?)
