See, when I hear all this about save the pandas, save the whales, save the planet &c. I think what you really mean is save the human race.

We can fuck mother Earth 'till she bleeds and we'll destroy ourselves in the process... but give it a few 10s of millions of years and the planet will reset, reconfigure, new lifeforms will evolve.

Earth has been through worse mass extinction events (eg the Permian/Triassic 'Great Dying').

With reservations I concur, were saving the planet from human activity, there's plenty of lifeless dead planets like Mars were just trying to keep this one habitable

maybe we know subconsciously weve already fucked up other planets by our toxicity and our soul consciousness has decided we have to learn to live with what we create....humans cant constantly run away from their behaviour with no consequences.. enjoy the growing up process x

I think we should focus on sorting out Earth first. We have the means and technology to do that too, to a high degree.

Ahem... Let me just run you through the premise.

A minimum 40% cut in emissions within 14 years! In reality what there actually holding to is an increase of no more than 2 degrees, this will actually more than likely take an 80% cut in c02 14 years!!.

To be frank, if you've never read anything on climate change, the science shows its probably not possible without a herculean change.

So prepare for 3 or 4 degrees but also prepare for the carnage that will come with that!

I think from what I've read, they'll be implementing a global carbon levy as that is in reality the only hope of holding to a "reasonable" increase, by reasonable I mean utterly devastating but still habitable

Germany is a stand out example in Europe here and now of what can be achieved by a modern developed successful state when it comes to renewables.

We can still make a difference if we act with conviction now, sadly I think internationally we are missing the window of opportunity.

You can't take it away from Germany, there a nation like no other except maybe Japan, they have this undeniable ability to achieve things that others say blah can't be done, waste of time, load of bollocks...

They just look at the problem then come to the most achievable solution based on the facts!.

.

However to scale the problem we face,80% cuts in c02 means realistically, zero emissions from transport, that's cars, planes, boats and trains and zero emissions from energy production, because the remaining 20% will be needed for food and industry.

.

The scientists haven't been honest enough with what climate change entails and the politicans have kept it as quite as possible!.

It's like the pervy uncle at the family xmas do

And so to the very interesting news that Saudi Arabia is to get out of the oil business!!.

Under the guidance of prince bin salem they are going to (been rumoured for awhile) sell some of the state owned Saudi Aramco, the worlds largest company valued at 2.5trn dollars to set up a sovereign wealth fund under the new vision 2030 plan (2030 that year keeps cropping up) to remove the country from its addiction to oil!.

I dunno it's like somebody's thinking oils going to get hammered in the coming years.

So according to NASA April has been the seventh month in a row to beat it's record for temperature, 2016 is on target to be the hottest year ever, which will surpass 2015 which surpassed 2014... India saw it's hottest day ever recorded of 51 degrees c, their usually reliable monsoon period has over the last decade been erratic but there hoping it arrives this month as expected as rivers and reservoirs are either very low or empty.

This year is larger expected by experts to be the year we see a big jump following the elnino just like 98 elnino when we saw the last jump.

The oceanography news is no better, 40% of existing coral is dead with a further 60% under eminent threat, there's been another 6 ocean dead spots since categorised with a now estimate of over 700 sections of ocean that have less than 1% life in them.

The Ganges despite improving alot over the last year remains officially the most polluted river in the world, sections of it are now classified as eminently hazardous to human life due to the massive amounts of industrial pollution poured into it.

Add to that the world has seen the highest levels of refugees ever despite a relatively long period without a "major war"!.
