Trophy Husbands/Boyfriends for Women?

I have noticed a lot of women seem to choose men like they would choose a new handbag or pair of shoes like a fashion accessory.

To look good on their arms, to impress their friends and family etc.

Do you think women actually do this?

I was a trophy husband.... she ripped out all my innards... stuffed me with fluff, ripped out my eyes and replaced them with marbles, and put me in a cabinet for people to laugh at......

Theres probably an analogy or a metaphor in that somewhere.....I'm not bitter.....

((she's lovely really, wherever she is, bless you ma'am and all who sail in you))

I do think women are more image conscious than men and care more about what other women think of how they look and what type of partner they choose to date than men do.

It's seems like women are more competitive with each other in the appearance stakes.

Maybe I'm wrong ?

"I haven't noticed that amongst us ordinary people. Celebrities maybe. "

I've noticed it, one of my aunties is like this. Goes on about her fella's money, brags, is obsessed with status and finances of her partners (but never worked in her life to attain her own money).

When she splits up with them, usually coz they've no money left after being with her, she rips them shreds and slags them off, even made out one of her exes molested their son but never stopped him from seeing his son until he couldn't pay maintainence and then she told him he couldn't have visitation rights until he started paying again.

Awful people.

Has to be, I have had lots of dates and relationships, I think women are more forgiving of physical appearance when it comes to introductions to friends and family; guys can be a bit.... we'll, not so nice about it...

Off to polish my white knight armour... ciao ciao

I think that's what you women think of us men? But I don't know many men personally that date women just to impress other men etc ?

I couldn't give a shit what anyone thought about my partner (if I had one ) as long as she was attractive to me and we got on great.

That's all that would matter to me

As far as I'm concerned I couldn't give a fiddlers feck what anyone else thinks. As this is my life. So I make my own decisions about who I want to see and who I don't. I wouldn't let anyone else opinion influence my choice of partner.

But I must say,I've never been dazzled by a shiny wrapper as I'm not a shallow person that judges people by how the look.

Hmm Jerry Hall or Rupert Murdoch?? Jerry Hall is the trophy in my opinion, I think men are far more driven by overt display of their status symbols, their women just smile all the way to the bank. I think men are more concerned with looks, women with character and less obvious qualities

I go dancing with a couple of really good looking charismatic guys that all the younger, hotter women flock around. I just smile a mischievous smile, cos I know they love me for who I am.

The women I know could care less what a man looks like as long as they don't frighten young children but they have to be in employment and solvent.

My other half is a Jason Statham/Bruce Willis hybrid, 6ft 1 and does kick boxing and has his own business as a heating engineer and is as fit as.

I'm 5ft 6, eight stones overweight with dodgy knees. When out and about my other half always asks if I'm ashamed of him because he likes to hold hands and kiss: he likes to feel reassured, I don't like pdas!

People generally look at us because we are an "odd" couple. That said, women used to stare at me when I was with my ex husband too as he was tall, dark and handsome. It was amusing watching some women trying to flirt with him, bless em, he never noticed and if I said so and so fancies you he'd look at me and tell me not to be ridiculous! Clueless! Still is.

ok..each and every man i have had a relationship has been like a 'prize' for me..but maybe thats because i treasure them..have i had men treat me the same way..yes..how nice..dont knock it.

i feel its mostly observers, seeing couples together that say this about them..rather than the people in the couples themselves...i was with a 50 year old for four years when i was 27..he wasnt a rich sugar daddy..he was just an awesome person..would it look like something else..yes..but we didnt care. the partner that followed him i was with for 8 years i was 32, him 23..would it have looked like he was my trophy husband.. i dont know we just clicked and knew we had to be together..dont judge a book by its cover and "there are nout as strange as folk"..more than that, just be happy x

It's also because it's not just about looks- it's about personality.

An average looking person can be elevated by their partner just by being made to feel beautiful- like that film Shallow Hal xx

You seem to have a major chip on your shoulder over this issue OP

Most of the behaviours you mention I see more in men.

Yesterday morning in fact I had a guy taking the piss out out me for being "a tank" with his mates but when I had a meet advertised he still messaged me on here later that night for a shag. In response I reiterated my earlier sentiments to him that he's a wanker and he can do one.

When you say you've noticed - where do you look / see it happening? I mean, sure we've all seen a couple in a street where one may look clearly younger / more 'attractive' (whatever that may be), but I don't think many people care really. To look good on their arms, to impress their friends and family etc.

Do you think women actually do this?

I'm always upgrading and changing my handbags when they get tatty/worn or I get bored with them.

Where as Mr B has been knocking around for well over 20 years. He impresses me,that's all I'm fussed about, not what others think.
