2 plastic cops turn up, hassle him, we boo hiss, they call for backup, all we said was boo hiss (banter) next thing we know 8 real copper arrive and cart this poor bloke and dog away, and start to hassle us, sitting with 6 lawyers not there best move and they soon decide to move on to another boo hiss

Murderers and rapists take a lot of time and man power to catch, would you rather we have no police on our streets for the everyday crap?

The squeeze box could have been a bomb and the dog most likely a banned breed. Thank goodness the boys in blue were there to apprehend this dangerous militant.

why does it have to be one or the other as you suggest? surely they can investigate serious crimes, have a presence on the street and not hassle buskers or the people who are enjoying listening to buskers ..... unless of course his accordian playing was really dreadful

There's footage going round on some cycling sites of a Met officer who pulls over a cyclist (complete with sirens) accuses him of cycling dangerously (clearly wasn't) but can't can;t tell him what he did wrong. Tells the cyclist that he is going to take his detils and then backs down when the cyclist asks him what grounds he has to do so. Then restys to telling the cyclist he will end up dead because his cycling is so dangerous. Throughout this he cannot explain what the guy did wrong.

Total bully and on a complete powertrip.

Most likely because they weren't breaking any law. Police officers wear body cameras now, doing anything against the law whilst trying to enforce it, is rather moronic. Besides you can always make a complaint to the IPCC (Independent police complaints commission).

"Not every police officer wears a bodycam!"

With annual budget cuts in the public service sector, are you surprised? Sure not every public sector is suffering from funding cuts but police and fire are without question. Yes, some statistics show that the cuts have not impaired the efficiency of the services, but plenty of people sure did lose their jobs.

Maybe it could be viewed from a different perspective?

Maybe the busker had been told he couldn't play or perform in public before? Maybe he could have been moved on before but has returned to carry on and defied police advice.

There are various rules and regulations in London and elsewhere banning all sorts of activity; people will always find ways to try to defy the authorities but for the OP to see it as the police were the bad guys, could just be seen as failing to look at both sides of a situation.

Anyone saying you can contact IPCC as if it's easy has clearly never had run ins with the police sufficiently serious to attempt that course of action.

It is NOT that easy.

And suing them for their misdeeds is impossible unless you are loaded.

A long story cut short.....I was once "cut up" exiting a roundabout whilst driving my car by a " normal car " , the roundabout had designated lanes for turning right, left or straight on etc , as I was in the correct lane to go straight on I was cut up and had to swerve/brake to avoid being hit by this other car who was in the wrong lane ( should've turned right ), so as I got beyond the roundabout I flashed my headlights at the car that had cut me up ( it was night time ), next thing....blue lights appear in the rear window of car in front....it was an unmarked police car , he stopped so I stopped...he came over to my drivers window having a right go at me saying he was police and could do what he did , I responded saying no you can't unless you had the " blues n twos" on , then his passenger got out ( a police Sargent ) to calm his fellow officer down and tried to diffuse the situation...TOLD his driver to get back in the police car etc....anyways ....I wasn't happy to say the least so I followed them and they drove to a police station where I then went and made a complaint ( giving the reg number of police car ).... 2 weeks later I received a letter from chief constable of police for that area apologising profusely for the actions of one of his officers and informed me he had been reprimanded etc and assured me it had been investigated as I had given info of the police Sargent doing his best to calm the situation etc....

The POLICE are NOT above the law either tho sadly some ( not all ) think they are and bully the general public who try to live within the laws of society....he chose the wrong car to cut up that evening....my passenger was a solicitor who recorded the conversation that took place with me sat in my car being abused by the police officer who cut me up......mobile phones are great dicta phones .....the officer didn't know he was being recorded . Hope he thinks twice next time he's behind the wheel of a police car....marked or unmarked.
