I started the mini pill in November last year and ever since my periods and pmt have got worse and worse. I'm now bleeding three weeks out of four and have felt suicidal at times, ready to believe I'm hated by literally everyone.

Well, I've just spoken to my gp and I feel like she's saved my life. I have an appointment to have the mirena fitted. Despite considering killing myself, I didn't actually realise how low I've been feeling until she have me a solution. I could cry I'm so relieved.

Anyway, what's your experience with the coil?

Or, should all men be fixed?

I am fixed. It took a few women to do it but now I am no longer broken...

Or should that be... I am more broken than before....

....oh you are talking about THAT "fixed"..... no touchy

I've had the mirena for the last 12 years and hardly had a period in that time! I'm staying with it as long as I can, and hopefully I'll know nothing about the menopause x

The Coil doesn't suit everyone. I have just had my second mirena coil fitted. I had complications with the removal but despite that it didn't hurt a bit. I really rate it. Once it's in you don't have to worry about it for 5 years. It can take a while for your body to adjust and not everyone gets on with it. But for me it's brilliant

My body rejected the mirena coil and it was a pretty grim battle between my body and it while it lasted. However, the stats are positive and it has been very successful for friends of mine so I was probably unlucky. Hope it works for you

I've had the mirena since 2008, I can honestly say I have had no issues with it, it doesn't suit everyone but this was the only thing for me as I always forgot to take the pill

You still may bleed, and your body can try to abort it for a while, which can be painful etc. Mine settled after 6 months

I had the mirena fitted and it made my periods lighter, i didnt seem to get any side effects from it, and it's the only contraception i've used and not got pregnant using it.

Had to have it taken out because it was causing cell changes in my cervix due to infection.

Thank you so much all. Cerazette is meant to be really good and I have a friend that it really suits, I guess it goes to show we're all individuals.

GP has gone through everything with me and I think it's probably worth the risk of the potential side effects. If it doesn't work I hereby declare I'll become a nun.

That's one hot nun!! Seriously though. The relief when you have a potential solution to a health problem is amazing. Good luck sweetie. Who gets to christen the coil?.....

I'm on my second one, they're ace once in and I've never bled but for me they are agony to have fitted to the point of almost passing out, having to have anaesthetic gel to help and being in pain for a couple of days, well worth it once that bits over though and I'm probably one of few who have that issue x

My gp couldn't remove mine because the strings were missing so after having a good root around decided I'd be better off going to the sexual health clinic as they have other tools they can use.....they had to root around a lot too and eventually found it. I barely felt it!...was uncomfortable at times but i wouldn't call it pain....am i dead "down there", i wonder??

I had a horrendous time on Cerazette. The coil was marvellous though, despite all the horror stories I read online.

Cerazette did not suit me either, gave me the most horrendous headaches, felt like me head was going to explode, and my face swole up. Took a break for a couple of months, tried again. Same happened within days.

I'm also dead down there, I had no bother getting it fitted and went back to work 10 mins later. Despite them telling me to expect it to be bad because I haven't had children.

You're welcome. Yeah having surgery sounds bad, just for a tiny implant. I was surprised how small they are actually.

They don't look that small when the doctor dangles it in your face as proof that she found it

I was the same as you on the mini pill. But I have endometriosis so it's not straightforward.

Had the Mirnena fitted and the periods are very light, no moods, no spots but I still have horrendous cramps every month, much worse than I ever had. But I have had no children and have added complications, so I might not be the best case study!

Coil is a good option however, ectopic pregnancy is a chance. Also infection. I am talking about a fraction of the population. Still we can change cool if this is the case. Tranexamic acid was an option for the bleeding but coil will wotk fairly good. Enjoy.

I am on the feonella everyday pill. Better than the injection after 7years as I can lose weight. However bleeding every other week.
