If her phone is cordless then it'll be on 2.4ghz just like the wifi, Bluetooth, PS3, etc" thanks will try the channel change . i dont really want to switch to 5g as im very aware of the effects of being microwaved ..tbh if it was my place i'd have wifi turned off and use Ethernet. yes it is here cordless fone that seems to be effecting it | |||

"ok, have a look in your event log veiwer to see what happens when your signal drops out. it will give a good indication of what's going on. out of curiosity what anti virus are you using? avast ..free version" i thought you might say that ..... avast has a habbit of fucking with your firewall settings and which cause dns errors ..... try resetting your firewall setting to default and see if it improves. | |||

If it does then it is a problem with the Internet, as others have said it is probably down to a faulty filter or a filter not plugged into each wall socket at the property, if the problem goes away it is a wireless quality issue, is your router dual band and your laptops support 5ghz do you know? | |||

If it comes through a phone line you'll need filters unless the actual phone line has been replaced.... in which case the phone sockets on the wall will have two sockets instead of one. Certainly in my neck of the woods it's the norm. Unless you're on Virgin... | |||

" yes the router has 5 and 2.4 not sure if my older laptop supports it .im using the ethernet cable on my older toshiba laptop and wifi on my 2nd laptop ..will see what happens tonite .have also put a filter on her fone line tho its a wireless fone so not sure that'll stop it | |||

We then started fitting "ADSL2000" socket faces, (yes, they have two ports, one for phone and one for t'interwebby), and now we have upgraded to fibre its got yet another new socket face. Never thought mid Wales would be at the "cutting edge" of technology lol! | |||
