on the road to nowhere in particular

Animal rights activists broke into a circus and set free an ostrich.

After 10 minutes of running around it was hit by a car and killed.

Cracking down on child slavery in certain areas of the world increased the number of children used in the sex trade. Very sad that the wider picture isn't looked at when trying to do good.

Yep , they really thought that one through didn't they ?

Unbelievable how stupid people can be , and the fact that they purport to be animal rights activists is the icing on the cake

An honourable death, free from the shackles of incarceration and oppression.

Same when they released Mink and they happily trotted off and destroyed swathes of animal life.

Sometimes they are so Counter productive. Like when Greenpeace decided to vandalise the Nazca lines in the name of climate change.

True, they'll think he has some neck coming up with that story, I doubt it will fly.

Maybe we are wrong and they Rhea.lly will believe him but just bury their heads in the sand rather than get into a flap....

Ok, I'm done now, I'll get my coat......

It's never seen roads and traffic .....

Cruel and heartless action by a bunch of idiots .

A lot of animal rights groups kill more animals than they save. I looked into this a lot while my ex was banging on how she supports PETA when they've been found to be the worst. I see what some are trying to achieve, the ostrich liberators may have their hearts in the right place but don't just free an animal into any old environment.

They were quite likely trying to contain it in a trailer for transport to somewhere else.... Lots of creatures escape - it didn't know they were trying to help it.

You often hear of pigs and bullocks escaping from the slaughter house and running down the road. That's what's sad.

People with their hearts in the right place have more of my respect than those who just don't care or ignore the suffering....

PETA are the evil of evil for animals 3% of animals survive their gas chambers

Worked their as a student and ended up throwing a chair at the management who were about to kill 5 puppies for no reason

I hope they make use of the unfortunate ostriches demise and cook it or something and not just chuck it in the bin?

I think with things like that it's not so much that they're not looking at the wider picture, but that there are unforeseen consequences that are impossible to predict.

Sadly, child slavery was a symptom of a much deeper problem, not the cause.

Who often hears about pigs or steers escaing from abbotoirs?

I've been to more than a few of them in my time and never seen or heard of this...

Or is this just "something you've read"?

It happening once does not mean that it happens all the time. I've been to a few abbotoirs in my time (some modern, some not so much) and they all seem to be laid out in a way that makes that sort of thing highly unlikely. I'd believe it more with pigs than cattle, although apparently carbon monoxide slaughter is now a reality, which I would imagine makes the whole process a lot calmer.
