Part 6 is full.

Let us know how you're getting on with diet and exercise.

I'm just back from cardio session at the gym. My leg injury is finally much improved. Got measured and losing inches - yay !

How's everyone else doing?

Ah just thought I'd tell you, I have an animal check up each year and for the first time they don't do your bmi nut waist measurement has to be 32 or below for women and 37 for a man. Don't know if other practice's are doing it as well

Did you mean a well woman check? That's to check risk of diabetes as part of it I think. Below those waist measurements you are less likely to develop it?

I'm sure I've read something somewhere that those waist measurements or below are the ideal. Better for maintaining levels if you have diabetes and to stop you developing it if you don't have it.

I am doing bodybuilding as hobby and it is all about to get huge. I go to the gym 4 times a week and eat every 2hrs, my macro nutrients I aim to hit everyday is 3200kcal 500g carbs and 250g protein. It is going really good and I see lots of progress. My idol in the sport is jay cutler, former mr olympia

I put on 3lbs this week but last week I had 3 birthdays and a trip to Leeds, so it's fair enough.

Knuckling down this week, hoping to shift most of it this week

I need to focus again. Just been to the hospital and am now waiting for a date to have my gallbladder removed. They're pleased with my weight loss so far but would like more to be lost before the op.

I believe in the plan, i know it works.

My bodys just being a twat haha.. I bought some aqua ban tablets to see if i can get some temporary relief from the water.

Id be the 1st to hold my hands up and go 'yep i cheated, i binged on crap, enjoyed it and deserved the gain'.. but i do feel a smidge cheated.

Its good you are doing both along side each other. i personally found the diet controlled weight loss,, exercise changed my shape.

You may notice for a few weeks you do not loose weight, your body stores water to fix the microtears in your muscles as you work out.

Plenty of advice and support will be given to you :D x

I've not joined a gym as I started a new job in January, working in a busy bistro, the scales say I haven't lost weight but the tag I can walk a lot further and work all day going up and down the stairs at work and not get tired tells me I've got fitter!!

I don't blame you for feeling cheated and know how honest you have been to date. As this seems to be a medical condition keep pushing for answers from your doctor.

Another 1 & 1/2lb lost. Could do wth losing it faster but slow and steady does it.

Had my fitness test at the gym today too after 6 weeks. I've lost inches and resting heart rate plus fitness in general is improved. So today is already much better than yesterday.

Thats brilliant Sarah!

my HR is down by about 40 since January..

Herts Lass.. ive just had my blood tests done for diabetes, thyroid and kidneys this morning so will hear back by Thursday hopefully.

I also drink around 2.5 l a day more if i do workouts.

For the 1st time in around 7 years ive had a proper period which could explain a chemical imbalance and why i've had gains.. feet are visually less puffy.

Normally I weigh in on Mondays but was working last night so going tonight. My scales say I've lost the weight I put on last week, but we'll see what SW says

Ooooooh get you, a proper period!!!! Just kidding.... I almost understand what you mean.

I've been on a slow n steady loss and hit the dead on stone mark so hopefully this week I'll be in a new number of the lower variety!!!!! Kinda excited as I cannot remember the last time I was in that stone bracket.... Sid it, I'm gonna pee myself with excitement !!! Sadly I have 'star' week next week, but going by past history, I don't gain, so might just get away with it!!!!!!

Woo hoo go the losers!!!!!!

I threw my home scales in the bin last week as i was getting unhealthily obsessed by what they said.. and the fact they never once agree'd with the SW ones lol

My sister is underweight and obsesses over it. Her friend A was over the other week and we were discussing weight loss.

A is built like a whippet and admitted that she weighs herself 3 times a day. My sister has to leave the room when she starts because it just makes her more stressed about it.

My sister's trying to get better but it's a slow process

Had a stupid binge of lots of alcohol, two packets of crisps and a plate of cheesy chips and at the weekend and put on 2lbs.

Worked hard sticking to my green smoothies and lost it by this morning.

Just finished my Shred workout for the day. Feeling fairly pleased but I have a long way to go.

Does anyone have any fast flat stomach tips?

It's my one problem area. I'm reducing the wheat I eat, drinking water more (but it's really hard to remember!!!) and mostly living on fruit, veg, white meat and fish, sweet potatoes and oats for carbs this week.

Where do I literally carry it? It would be a barbell back Squat, so the bar goes on my shoulders just above my shoulder blades. The amount of weight you can lift is to some extent a function of your bodyweight, which is why weightlifting competitions are split into weight classes (like boxing). Have you tried lifting? It's loads of fun.

That 2lb I thought I'd lost. Well it was only 1lb. Doh. That's what I get for my avocado smoothie yesterday!

Oh well. Workout in a minute. And salad for lunch.

Time to get sweaty.

Hi all! Not posted for ages as I've been crap!

Back on it as I'm away in just under 3 weeks (yep - I AM that disorganised!) and I need to lose at least 5lbs to fit in my summer clothes comfortably!

Incidentally- does anyone know where you can buy thongs suitable for swimming/sunbathing (preferably with matching tops whilst I'm walking around!) - as I want to have as few white bits as possible!

Thrown in an extra gym day today as I won't make the gym on Sunday. I've upped my weights this week and am working hard. I'm away at the weekend and there won't be much opportunity for healthy food but I'll try to be as careful as I can.

Just bought myself a Fitbit hoping it might help in motivation for a spring campaign - just found out my dancing uses 4000 steps an hour and morning stables is 4,300 - I should be skinny already!!

Fitbits count your steps and track stuff like your heart rate and sleep and stuff.

Basically when you've walked 10,000 steps in a day it buzzes a happy little buzz and you LIVE for that buzz.

It becomes more addictive than checking your Fab messages. You check it more than email.

I've been known to run on the spot to get to my target steps before getting into bed at night. My legs never ached so much.

Enjoy

You have been warned!

Yes, I think only the more expensive ones track heart rate. It monitors sleep too, so you can see how many times you move etc in the night, only a couple for me so that's good, though I woke up too early.

The Fitbit conerts steps/activity to calories burned and as its pretty easy to enter food consumed in the software then you can compare calories in to out. A male chum of mine has lost 10kg since Jan just using the Fitbit to ensure a 750 calorie deficit per day and I wondered if that would work for me. He says it helps motivate by nagging him with stats lol!

my fitbit ChargeHR was 99.99

i am so glad i got the Heart Rate version though as in Jan my resting HR was 107.. and now its only 62ish..

so i can see that kinda progress. Also it automatically works out my intensity levels of exercise and calculates how many calories i burn.

Love my graphs :D

Ive had my Band 2 for nearly two months now. Whilst I don't need to lose weight its a useful tool for reminding me to keep active.

Its been interesting tracking my sleep & seeing how alcohol affects it. If I don't drink my resting HR is between 38 & 44 bpm, with booze its a skyrocketing mid to high 50's.

Just goes to show what booze does.

The other thing is how hard it is to hit my daily calorie burn without doing some actual 'exercise'. Whilst I cycle to work and back, and have a fairly physical job it doesn't get my HR into the 150+ range needed to burn energy quickly.

Messing with mother nature (upcoming holiday, needs must) has totally thrown everything off track

Only put 1lb on but can't get past that bloody digit to be in the lower stone bracket so constantly beating myself up then eating crap to make myself 'feel better'

Upping exercise a little to try and shift the cycle and miserable mood.

Good luck everyone and keep up the good work

I know, what you mean, it does become addictive doesn't it?

Thing is - as a physio friend said to me - "what are you going to do with all that data?"

I go-to gym every other day, health has improved, stamina and my asthma is way better plus I rarely get ill anymore.

I don't measure my weight, just go by target goals in gym.

Almost maxed the weight on three machines, doing high reps. So am feeling good.

Probably feel forest I have in years, tops are now loose on my gut and tight everywhere else.

Kinda funny as I used to hate gym.

Up ridiculously early here, getting ready for a 70+ mile bike ride round the Yorkshire Dales taking in Buttertubs Pass - possibly NOT the brightest idea on the warmest day of the year!

I do wish i could run, i have a condition called CMT which means i'm completely incapable of running. It would be a lot cheaper i can tell you!

I think i'll burn around 6/7'000 calories today so best take some food/gels with me.

what i used to do at the start of my weight loss was survive on very few clothes as i knew i wouldnt be staying that size i only bought things i really needed. Thats where my charity shop addiction came from id pop in and see what they got.

I also had a wardrobe fund i set up at the start as i knew id need a new wardrobe. I only started going mad when i reached the size i was going to stay at. I couldnt afford to buy a new wardrobe everytime i went down a size.

Yes, it surprised me too and I'm fairly active. My Band gives me a target of 1900 per day, I usually get close to that on a regular working day and then top it up with my cycling exercise.

To put it into context, it usually takes me a 25 mile/1hr 25 minute evening ride to burn 1100 calories.

A portion of fish and chips from the chippy is easily 1000 calories.

Too many people think 20 minutes on the stationary bike in the gym will allow them to then go and eat that - it just isn't the case.

Large calorie burns need long, sustained exercises I'm afraid.

Update : i mentioned i thought i would burn 4 - 6000 calories yesterday & only actually burnt 2600 during my ride.

However, when combined with the rest of the day i did actually burn over 4000.

A good bout of exercise increases your metabolic rate for a while afterwards it seems.

Put on 1.5lbs last week and lost 2lbs this week. Finally dropped down into the next stone bracket which is good

We did the 5:2 over Lent and in the last three days I finally managed to overtake Mrs ddc having been at least 2lb heavier the whole time. Boy was she

However I've over-shot a bit, having been a bit poorly, and now at 9st 4, I've reached the point where I'm trying to put weight back on

Mr ddc

Ok I'm back on it....I'm thoroughly disgusted with myself as I've put on the stone and a half i lost last year

Week 1....I've a very long way to go but I'm determined to do it again...and maintain it this time.

I dragged my arse to the gym this morning despite being out late dogging last night, lol. And couldn't get to the gym yesterday as the car was getting its MOT, but the walk to and from the garage plus a trip to the post office was an hour and a half, so got my cardio in

A very bad week for me. I'm having an operation next week so will be lying low now for a couple of weeks until I recover. Hope everyone's plans continue to go well and will catch up again towards the end of the month.

I'm getting frustrated; have been doing my food diary and staying within my calories, going to bootcamp, playing netball twice a week and doing minute workouts on other days. Haven't lost anything!! Last five pounds seem to be stuck and I don't know if they will ever some off?? Not sure what else I can do to get past this plateau

FIrstly, make sure you are logging accurately (use a food scale). If that doesn't work, try bringing your calories down a bit. Bear in mind that weight loss is not linear so you may well see it suddenly drop before you have the chance to do this...

Might need to do arm day tomorrow instead of leg day, something isn't right in the back of my knee. Don't know if I've strained something or turned awkwardly, but getting occasional sharp twinges alongside a general uncomfortableness. Currently got a limp

I've been doing it for about 2 and half years now tho. I started with just the bar. You will get stronger on them. 5 sets of 5 reps is good for strength. Once you complete that, then go up in weight.

There is no way I could swim the next morning!

Cardio session at the gym at 7.30 this morning.

Lost 4lbs this week. The exercise and extra walking seems to be paying off. I've grinned all the way home.

Well done. Doing cardio in the morning without eating will soon burn it off.

I've noticed Aldi have a gluten free section in our store now. Good to have a diagnosis. Hopefully you can find a treat to replace the cheese and milkshakes.

One thing I really hate at the gym is the shoulder exercises. I'm crap at the shoulder press so switched to dumbbells and still crap.

Thinking of swapping that exercise for something else but no idea what

Shoulders are hard to train heavy on if done right. Dumbbells are good way of building them. Also having strong triceps will help you.

Will be back on the SW plan from Monday. Recovering well but with no heavy lifting for another 5 weeks it's going to be plenty of walking for exercise. Although I can now eat fattier foods I haven't enjoyed those I've tried again this week. I think I'm actually relieved about that. Will check in

again next week
