I dont dislike him. However as a comedian his material is the same now as it was when those tapes of him we're doing the rounds in the 80's.

Thinking of it I left c0ck, b0llox, cnut, c0ck, b0llox, cnut & Dolly Partons tits comedy behind years ago

Worst show I've ever seen.

He was d*unk (genuinly, not for comedic effect) and forgot must of his own material.

Tried to cover it up by just being abusive to the audience and swearing in the hope people would laugh at it.

We stuck it out but maybe a fifth of the audience walked out.

He's local to me and I actually first seen him live in the early 80s.

He did appeal to many mainly white working class people in the 80/90s but frankly if you still ( or ever ) find him funny, you must be stuck in a time warp.

Regardless of what folk think of him, he does a hell of a lot for the fight against Cancer

"I feel the money that I give them is doing something good and, if I'm still alive when they announce they have cured cancer, that will be like winning the lottery for me," he said.

"If I did win the lottery and won £50 million, I would build my own cancer unit because they have given me the gift of life."

Titz Towers, North Notts

His material is badly dated and he has been living on his reputation for the last 25 years.

The topics he works with are old hat, he has no real construction to his set, there is no sense that he is building to anything, the reveals can be seen coming a mile away and his delivery is little above what I'd expect at an open mic night.

is it wrong to have hoped it was news of another passing? thats a comment he would have said but with different words.

compared to recent losses (corbett, woods) it shows intellect is timeless comedy whilst filth is a momentary guffaw.

Not his biggest fan here, but, in the spirit of fair play, for those who dislike his act, remember it is just that, an act. Chubby is the character he plays. Like Frankie Boyle, he gets stick for his act/ character.

Anthony Hopkins played Hanibal Lector yet we consider him a treasure.

The Hopkins reference...but I re-read it and get what you mean now.

I'm not overly sure Chubby Brown is an "act" though. I recalls BBC documentary about him where he tried to distance himself from his onstage persona, but the more time they spent with him it was clear there was very little, if any, difference

Prepared to be wrong about his off stage personality having never met him. He was a regular act in my parents pub in the eighties and people spoke highly of him. Them though, not me.

He was ok ish back in the 80s, he is typically suited to Blackpool pier and there was a market for it then. I don't think it works now and it's not funny.

I have however watched a dvd of his at a friends house. I remember really laughing at one of his jokes. I can't recall the details other than it was about a lacoste sleeping bag
