There's a thought, can anyone think of any band, that had a woman as the lead, where the rest of the band weren't completely obscured into the background as a result?

"Fleetwood Mac"

The names which immediately come to mind are Mick FLEETWOOD and John MACvie (after whom the band are named...and the only two constant members). The band was not fronted by a woman...it was initially Oeter Green's Fleetwood Mac.

Most folks will know Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks. But the leading musical light of the current/classic line-up is Lyndsay Buckingham (a guy) who kind of takes the role of Peter Green.

Maybe this part,y answers the OP but the band are not led by a woman!
