Your favorite game consol

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I've been playing lots of video games lately and I can't help but think that nothing was as good as the original N64. I really miss it. Marc got me a simultor for my computer but it's just not the same.

What was your favorite game consol ever?

Goldeneye. Fantastic gaming and multiplayer with physical people in the same room.

I'm getting a raspberry pi 3 in a few weeks to play emulators and stream media - I managed to hack my wii in a d*unken state once and have the emulators running on it. But I want a bit more flexibility with my controllers

Mega drive for sure! Any sonic games, some weird Michael Jackson thing, I think there was a home alone game, and dizzy the stupid fucking egg that it was impossible to complete me and my brother used to take it in shifts as you couldn't save where you were up to in it!

The only one I had as my own was a N64, I only enjoyed playing snowboard kids on it though, and super Mario!

It was aesthetically pleasing, though.

i actually love the design. its clunky but still has a small form factor and was a powerhouse on the graphics front. The mini discs were awesome aswell but ultimately what stopped it taking off i think

and i still think the gamepad was one of the best ever designed

This is true, mortal kombat is vastly overrated in my opinion and relied on shock value over gameplay.

The sega Saturn never got its due either. Platform exclusives like nights into dreams, Panzer Dragoon and Shining Force.

However it was horribly managed, badly launched and failed to get Resident Evil 2 which is unforgivable.

SNES for me, just because it had Mario Kart, Street fighter 2, F-Zero, Castlevania IV and Final fight.

Following a close second the original Xbox, playing the launch game Halo was mind blowing, plus it had Star Wars knights of the old Republic 1 and 2 which have got to be the best rpg/action/Sci Fi games ever released in my opinion.

*snes next up.

anyway OP, a decent gamepad that can be mapped well enough I've found really great and the games did feel good...personally in high resolution I was one over...you have to get the best emulators really, and of course any of the updated graphics components for the emulator.

I've actually a decent graphics card in a desktop I bought recently, so its gonna run the games much much better than my almost dying laptop can.

Ocarina of time is the best game ever made. "

a 3d version of a link to the past though would be super fucking amazing.I sometime play link to the past just to get to holding my sword for the first time.

"Sadly, muchto Mrs M's annoyance, I'm a video game junkie...i have Ps4, ps3, xbox one, xbox 360. Nintendo gamecube, n64 and psp. Most of the time its on the ps4 tbough, but n64 for great fun with no delays. Mario 64 is my all time fav game"

its still just as beautiful to play.perfect camera controls..mario can spin on a sixpence..unlike lara croft who was all the rage, with her clunky controls and big tits.

Link to the past is amazing the first time you play it, but there's no real reason to play it twice. However, Shining Force games have so many characters that you'll play them over and over

In the early ninties I bought a Sega Mega drive just to play John Madden's American football game. If I remember correctly he hated flying and travelled to all the games by train. Does anyone know if he's still alive?

Talking of planes I have to admit to taking flight simulation far to seriously. Mind you I have resisted the urge to buy a pilot's uniform!

Sony PSP - as well as it's own great games you could hack it so it could play loads of emulators like SNES, nes, megadrive etc

"Mega drive for sure! Any sonic games, some weird Michael Jackson thing, I think there was a home alone game, and dizzy the stupid fucking egg that it was impossible to complete me and my brother used to take it in shifts as you couldn't save where you were up to in it!

The only one I had as my own was a N64, I only enjoyed playing snowboard kids on it though, and super Mario!"

Holy crap, Dizzy the egg!!

I used to love that, even managed to complete them all!

" Marc got me a simultor for my computer but it's just not the same.

"

I believe the correct term is "emulator"

As for me, it will always be my NES. Bart vs the Space Mutants and Super Mario 3 ftw. Even have a huge Super Mario 3 poster in my room
