There's renewed debate about muzzling all dogs in public....

But how would you put a muzzle on a pug?

Totally against this

this is what happens when you get a few bad/irresponsible owners

The majority of dogs are well behaved in public and do not need muzzles

Completely agree - no need for muzzles on all dogs

62 West Wallaby Street (not real address)

My dog is very difficult. If I go out in a public place with her she wears a muzzle. Doesn't happen very often as I tend to walk her well away from anyone else. What annoys me is when I'm out and loose dogs not under any control come running over to where I am upsetting my dog. I got off the Internet a yellow coat and lead for her saying on it that my dog needs space after seeing it at a dog show but alot of dog owners are unaware of what it's for.

I wouldn't like to muzzle my pup, but she is very boisterous and playful to the point of jumping on other dogs. I'm in the process of training her being so young but for now she's never off the lead, because I'd hate for her to scare another dog and get hurt.

If all dog owners were responsible, there wouldn't be a problem at all

Our dogs are lovely, but they are always walked on a leash because they don't come to us on command. If another dog is nearby they would ignore us, so they are always on a leash. I'm a bit sick of dog owners who can't control their own dogs letting them off leash to harass our dogs who are on leash. I've begun arguing with people about it when it happens.

I wish the law just required dogs to be on leash, then I wouldn't see the need for muzzles. Where I'm from in the US dogs have to be on leash in public places (except dog parks) and it works fine.

I wouldn't put a muzzle on my dog. He's big and could be seen as a dangerous dog. In reality ive got a walking, breathing, mess making teddy bear

Most of the time it isn't the dogs it's the owners .

Neighbour has a Patterdale and he admits can't trust it round children and other animals .he got this dog knowing lives in a built up area and he refuses to muzzle it .worse bit is the rescue centre he got him from said it was be okay.

We had a rescue dog once who bit a lady on the leg... She was never allowed out of the house without a muzzle again.

However the dogs we've owned from pups don't need leads or muzzles as they come back when we call them and don't hassle any one.

Stupid idea and I walk in the middle of nowhere and wouldn't bother anyway

True and while you're post is in jest, I have yet to hear of anyone being mauled to death by a hamster.

If a dog does go for it and occasionally they do even if it's down to the owner, in general they are a dangerous weapon.

I can't see this happening as it's going to cause so many problems and who could possibly enforce every single dog?

Ironically it would be the people who want their dog's to attack people who wouldn't comply.

Decent honest owners and dogs would suffer.

I don't know if there would be any milage in dog's over a certain size?

However jack Russell can be nasty little fuckers.

And could potentially cause serious harm to an infant.

But it should all start with education of owners and responsible ownership first.
