"Keep moving the back as if nothing was wrong....do not sleep on hard surfaces just keep it moving through the pain unless you have serious spinal injuries of course." That was professional advice give to me from specialists.

"sounds like my life - 1000mg naproxen a day - omeprazole to counteract that - 240 mg of codeine - with dulcolax to counteract that ggrrr - i visited a chiropractor but it was expensive and out of all the things he tried the acupuncture was fairly good - physio did shit all - i can have an op but cannot guarantee to be pain free after that so i just keep popping the pills - and curling up ina tight ball when i can - i feel your pain " The naproxen only seem to work if I have them sporadically, say twice a week, if I'm on them all the time it seems to work fair less, could be psychological I know

"Get an inversion table - look up teeter-totter on YouTube. Only traction worked for me but with this I can fix myself, though my problem was lumbar compression. Also swimming - when swimming a lot I don't need to use it at all. " Thanks I'll try that, yes swimming has been mentioned to me by doctor but I've always hated swimming

"I'm looking for summat that is dofferent to the usual as my (Mr) back is killing me again. I've had massages, acupuncture, naproxen, slept on the floor, had weeks off work and lots more but still I get pain in my middle back. Almost in a line across the bottom of me shoulder blades, I'm just hoping someone has something that's worked for them that I can try, and I'll listen to almost anything to be honest Thanks " I suffe_ed with mid back pain , quite severely , if you can afford it I would recommend a visit to an osteopath rather than a gp , if he/she is good they will pinpoint the problem and give you sound advice on how to nurse it in the future , it worked for me and worth every penny

You have my complete sympathy as well as admiration for managing to live through and suffer this. My back has been in agony since Saturday - a temporary problem - and I've completely had enough.

"Did you get a DIAGNOSIS from the physical therapist? If you did could you share it? If you didn't, then go see a orthopedic specialist and get a clinical diagnosis from them. If they can't tell you exactly what's wrong then get an MRI. You do need to find out what's causing the pain. If it's just muscular then you need to start anti inflammatory medication combined with serious... Fucking serious stretching by you. Yoga, stretching at home, whatever. But the number 1 thing is don't look for advice from a bunch of strangers online!" Definitely, if it's been more than 6 weeks, consider an MRI to eliminate bulges and herniated disks, also avoid sitting, variable height standup sit-down desks are a legal requirement in Denmark as disk pressure is _educed by over 30% along with back aches. Industrial work station design favours standing for the Same reason - much _educed incidences of back problems.

The instructor told me he suffe_ed all his adult life with a bad back until he took up canoeing, when it stopped due to the exercise. Mind you, split my head open and wrenched an arm that day, so not 100% good for you

"Chiropractor. (Check they are a registe_ed one.) And buy Sarah Key's Back Sufferer's Bible. Really useful book." Yes on both counts ,great book I've used it for years and given friends copies. And Chiropractors work -just remember to continue to do the right things after it stops hurting

Along with neck pain, earache, blocked ears, sore shoulder and more. Went to my GP and he said it was stress / anxiety. I didnt realise I was either. Now I take 150 mg of Sertraline each morning. Right as rain now.
