"I think it is more Ch4 sensationalism aimed at further stirring up racial, religious and cultural divisions - as I am sure this thread is also bound to do." How ? Would you prefer it brushed under the carpet.

"In a Channel 4 programme to be aired this week and presented by Trevor Philips former head of Equalities & Human Rights Commission.....just two of the findings to emerge are that 52% of British Muslims think homosexuality should be illegal here, and just 34% would inform the police if they knew if another Muslims involvement in terrorist activities. If these and other findings are typical what do you think the future holds for race relations between Muslim and non Muslim in this country ?" does it say how many Muslims were part of this survey and does it make a comparison between Muslims and Christians ?

"If that's a true stat, I bet it's from a small sample. More good TV sensualism aimed at dividing rather bringing everyone together. Wasn't the guy murdered for saying Happy Easter to his customers - a Muslim? " Exactly this What a load of twonk xx

"I think it is more Ch4 sensationalism aimed at further stirring up racial, religious and cultural divisions - as I am sure this thread is also bound to do." If, as it would appear, you're stating that the intention of Channel 4 is to incite racial hatred then you are part of a wider problematic view that seeks to shut down debate around issues that are long overdue for discussion. It's 'thought police' mentality. The survey was not a Channel 4 survey but one conducted by Phillips himself and the views expressed are quite concerning! Especially if you are a woman that expects equality, or a gay man, or even a swinger! We are often told that radical, dogmatic, violent politicised Islam is a preserve of a tiny yet vocal minority. However, it would appear that we have a 'spectrum' of opinion and a sliding scale at that. Essentially, what it highlights, and what Phillips himself states, is that we have to answer serious question about the extent to which 'integration' and 'multiculturalism' has either succeeded or failed. There is an 'elephant in the room' and shutting down debate by accusing people of 'inciting' or racism is foolish in the extreme. And yes, all religions have their nutcase fringe element but one in particular is stealing all the headlines at the moment. If we cover our ears and refuse to see then we pass the buck to generations down the line to deal with the issues.

He has made quite an industry out of it over the years and is not adverse to stirring things up to suit his ideology. Although his opinions may differ, he is no different to the Daily Mail for stirring shit to suit his agenda.

It's a question of people with immense power (such as the media) abusing their position to deliver a distorted view of the facts to sensationalise a subject and to further their own agendas. When the North Koreans, Russians or even the Nazis did this it was usually called propaganda. This type of program has the ability to be edited to show any view that the production team choose tho show. Cal

"It's a question that needs to be discussed as current activities of certain religious groups are changing the landscape of this country. However, as responsible adults, we have to be aware, the media can be one sided and it's up to our own intellect to dig a little deeper to seek both sides of any given story. -M "

"The muslim shop keeper was murdered by an Islamist fanatic who accused the shop keep of 'betraying' the muslim faith by extending friendship to Christians by saying Happy Easter and, therefore, validating another religion - this is forbidden in Islam, as is apostasy - punishable by death!" This isn't correct. He was murdered for being an Ahmadi Muslim, they are regarded as apostates by Mainstream Islam. It was not an attack on his wishing Christians a happy Easter. It was sectarian violence, and should be condemned my all religious groups.

" Fair enough, but I was not overly wide of the mark given that the solicitor read out a pre-prepared statement from the perpetrator saying: "I am the final messenger of Allah, there are no Gods or prophets other than me." I think the point that the programme may be making is that yes, the nut cases prepared to be violent are a small number. However, there is a hidden swathe of sympathy for their actions and also a belief that their victims 'had it coming to them' as is what we saw after the Charlie Hebdo killings.

"Muslims are still a tiny minority in the UK population and I believe most are entirely decent people. I'm not worried and I pay no attention whatsoever to scaremongering tosh. There are also dangerous non-Muslim lunatics and fanatics in this country. Islam is not the root of all evil." What she said. I've got a fair few Muslim friends and they are all people just like anyone else. I like all of them a heck of a lot.

I work with a catholic woman who also believes homosexuality should be illegal and she believes in her religion it is. In her little bubble gay people shouldn't be allowed to adopt or teach as they will inappropriately touch children she is also vengeful and believes the whole eye for an eye thing - we very often have to agree to disagree before war breaks out in the canteen over refugees/migrants/Muslims/gay people being allowed to adopt, teach....she truly is the most judging unchristian woman I have ever met but she is one person - I wouldn't judge the whole religion from this one example

"Donald Trump has a better view " Trump is a racist, homophobic, mysiginistic ego maniac who says absolutely anything that will appeal to a baying crowd of idiots. But at least he knows what he is. His followers and supporters in the other hand have no idea how misguided they are.

" Who murdered him? An Uber driver Wasn't it another Muslim? The two things aren't mutually exclusive." nobody said they are but a high proportion of violent crimes are being committed by Uber drivers who are not being properly checked for suitability to work with the public. Many of the acts of violence are being swept under the carpet by the media. This case was one case concerning Uber that did make the headlines.

And I bet if you surveyd proper Christians , not the lot who say they are Christians but the last time they entered a church was when a tie Mande died, the statistic on homosexuality would be very similar.
