It's not they're celebrity names, like the Oliver brood or Geldofs, but that they're "ordinary"

What baby name book did they pick those from ?

Hal is a short form for Henry/Harry/Harold. Shakespeare uses it.

Brick... I'm not sure where that comes from. *whispers* I'm not sure where that comes from.

Yea, UK, defo into this more now. A lot of younger people with silly first names.

Especially celebs who name there children, always something so stupid, that when the kid grows up they'll change there name and not to there parents.

Redditch

I'm not sure if they are real names or shortened names,

TV shows,

Hal from Malcolm in the middle,

Hal is traditional. It's short for Harry, which is familiar for Henry.

I think Shakespeare refers to 'good king Hal' in one of his plays.

Redditch

Buffy is a shortening of Elizabeth, same as Liz or Betty.

The cathedral in Birmingham is st chad's.

A lot of these 'odd' names are traditional, but not used in the UK anymore. Britain has changed its language more than America, due to our maritime history and trading with the world, where America is more self contained.
