FabSwingers.com forum: Membership imminent.

So, I've been on FAB now for almost a month, and although I can see the potential people could get out of this site, I can put my hands up and say it hasn't worked for me. Infact far from. (I know it's been a month but here me out).

Now, don't think I'm slandering the site or people on it, but from what I've noticed you must have to be a certain specification to communicate with the women on here. (Again, not having a go) but let me elaborate.

From what I've experienced on my local news feed there's lots of women saying they're sick of men messaging without reading their profile, sick of men who aren't verified, no face photos and so on (just so you know we do read your profile. although I personally don't message after I find I haven't fit the criteria, that's not to say it isn't worth a shot from others that do.) consider it a compliment, get to know them.

I consider myself quite a polite person and I introduce myself in that manner, and I've seen in the past from just stating that I'd like to learn more about them, I've been blocked. Right off the bat, this has happened on numerous occasions and I hadn't even said anything (or hinting at anything) subjective, and this is with me adhering to these rules on their profile.

does anyone else know what I mean?

P.S "no newbies, you'll only be gone in a month" is possibly the most ridiculous thing I've read on here. Of course we're going to go if it won't let us message anyone.

My profile says I don't accommodate and don't travel and that I'm looking for men who live locally and can accommodate.

I'm not sure why I should get to know someone who lives in Glasgow for example, just because he sends me a message.

I understand what you're saying, OP. It's fine if the site isn't working for you. If I were a single guy, unless I were into something particularly kinky, I would just find casual sex elsewhere.

In some, I stress some, ways fab is a bit of a toxic environment. It isn't a natural way for people to meet, and I think it leads to frustration for lots of people. I hope you decide whether it's something you actually want to put time into and whether it's right for you.

I seem to be the exception in that I apparently find it much easier to have casual sex through Fabs, I absolutley suck at both casual and serious dating on dating sites.

I don't wonder if on Fabs, people are much more ready to accept me being a sarcastic twat, whereas on dating sites they get mortally offended...

The problem you have, as with many who take issue with not getting regular or any meets, (not just single men, and not meaning to generalise) is that too much expectation is put on the site and those that are genuine and do meet.

"They expect" to get meets, instantly and regularly.

"They expect" members to jump into bed with them.

"They expect" members to interact with them.

I could go on and on, but generally there are far too many expectations of the site and the members (not just single women).

You are one piece of a puzzle on here, becoming annoyed that you don't fit every other piece amongst 1000's of pieces.

You try and fit a piece at a time, if you don't you move on.

Some pieces are limited in how they fit other pieces, some pieces are very versatile and fit a lot of other pieces.

Lower your expectations, take the site less seriously and enjoy it, or don't.

In all seriousness however, I've been on fab 4 years now and only the last 2 am I seeing the benefits of hanging in there. I've had some amazing times with other members but it's all down to putting the effort in and attending socials and getting myself known and out there.

Just remember, this isn't like an Argos catalogue where you select what you want and get it.

I would find it too scary to go to a normal nightclub by myself too. The idea of walking into a club full of regulars on my own horrifies me, so I can understand why not everyone finds it an easy option.

I feel the same way about this site not being for me. I'm not into NSA.

The way most guys do it is leaving you feeling like a service...they make loads of effort for the first meet but after that it's like they cba any more and think they're in and can just hook up any time. This is probably what NSA sex is but i'm not keen and finding it boring, finding the guys lose their appeal when they don't make any effort also.

I think my main incentive to this post, albeit a very vague one was to

1) try and see how others have coped with this consistent uphill struggle of successfully messaging someone.

2) spread awareness that new users actually exist and given the time of day, they might actually be worth speaking to.

Obviously I can understand women on here get 20 messages a minute, but for men it's the opposite. We're lucky if we get a view in a week, and even then it wouldn't be accompanied by anything, so I can't justify spending money to be a verified member, to appease someone's rules for meeting if they won't give you the time of day to begin with. It's a constant catch 22.

Not everyone requires membership or verifications. My partner and I both meet people on our own and together who don't have memberships or verifications.

That sounds terrifying, you've got to bare in mind I'm 28, I'm still in the category where I can go out "on the pull" but I don't because I'm not confident enough.

But what is there to really be scared of? Go to the bar, order a drink and hang or find a seat. Talk to people or not, it's not like everybody knows everybody apart from you.

I rarely see someone I know but I bumped into Wasphunter recently and although we didn't get a chance to have a conversation, we know that we will eventually.

Honestly OP aka Alex1988, bide you're time and relax and remember to expect nothing off this site mate..

cold messaging people is useless most off the time if some one is interested in you they will more or less approach you first chances are better with that..

best you can do is stick to forums/chat rooms or sometimes hit a forum social or a swingers club is you're best option, I know it's not exactly the best thing for me to say but I find it's more better there..

it will take a while for you to come across some one chances are but it can be worth the wait, think some off the guys who join up this place and become a bit soft tbh in the sense they want to be recognised and embraced by whoever it is they they want to meet then end up becoming demoralised by constant rejections over time..

some do have better success but the truth is some guys do sadly become soft over time on here and end up letting it get to them when they don't get what they want, its normal in a sense as some women do have that effect on us it's natural we want to be happy and have a good time with them but the truth is be a gentleman sure but don't expect much or miracles etc just sit back relax and watch how the show/events unfold.

remember to NEVER let this place make you soft or turn you into some kind off sad sour puss or sissy/suck up because some woman didn't want to meet you or you don't fit their requirements for one reason or the other let them have their own reasons or ways of functioning their different from us in that sense they do things their own way kind off like how us men do things our own way..

it does get frustrating some times but you need to remember to not take it too serious.

I feel like that way too sometimes OP but the truth is just to go with the flow and I suppose relax...

I was told by a forumite I met at a forum social that I was tense and the truth is I was even though I behaved myself and socialised part off me was still kind off in paranoid/on guard mode and didn't really let myself cool it..
