FabSwingers.com forum: Anyone had an iPhone stolen?

Got mine pinched a few weeks ago at work in Paris.

Cancelled everything and got phone blocked by now getting messages claiming it's been 'located' through find my iPhone.

Was suspicious initially as the emails, when you click on the name, were from gmail accounts.

Reported them all and heard nothing.

Today I get another similar one and for a laugh go to fill in the user name and password request with expletives - but it said user name or password were incorrect.

Apple as much use as a chocolate fire guard trying to find out if these are legit emails or not.

Anyone?!

They may be legitimate. Can you locate the phone using Find My iPhone on iCloud.com? If so, you can wipe the phone remotely.

I'm presuming you are not trying to get the phone back here, by the way!

Shows as 'offline'. I can't even remember if it was switched on when it got stolen to be honest as I don't really trust 'the cloud'.

The only people who know its been knicked are the phone co and the c***s who stole it. Which makes me wonder how they have my email addy.

i've got find my iPHone. you should be able to login and see where your phone is exactly and wipe everything on the phone as well.

wish it could locate more accurately for when you can't actually find your phone...like it's in the kitchen near the kettle.

If you have ever put your email into your phone that's how it knows x

Nah just clicked there when I opened my (new) laptop. First thing that comes up on the start screen is my email addy. They nicked my laptop too.

well if you switched it off it kinda negaites the whole point of "find my iphone"......

and shows why having a passcode set up is so important (so other people can't get into the phone to turn it off!)

I dunno all I do know is that when my daughter's iPhone was knicked a few days ago first thing the police asked was has it got find my iPhone on it. I said i dunno what that is and they said it's an app they recommend.

pretty much the first thing apple recommend should put on all iphones and ipads... i don't know why they don't just preload it on....

Had a passcode, they won't be able to get into it. I just never had the FMIphone on. Does beg the question why nick them if they're essentially redundant.
