I sent the following message to the site owners but not had a reply, has anybody else had selected messages deleted?

On Monday 4th April I had messages to and from somebody that I was in contact with over the previous 2 weeks. I was still having conversations with them so had kept all of the previous messages. On Tuesday 5th April all of the messages relating to this one person, both to and from, had been deleted. All of the other messages that were not relating to this one person were still in place (even though some of these messages go back to the middle of last year).

What I wish to know is, were these messages deleted by Admin, and if so why were they deleted?

I am asking these questions because if these messages were not deleted by Admin then it would appear that somebody else has access to my account and I need to do something about it. I am trying to find out if my account has been compromised and would appreciate it if you would answer my questions.

Is that user still on the site. Commonly when a user goes UNLOS or their profile has been deleted by admin all the messages disappear.

Yes and if user goes UNLOS.

OP, do you really think admin would be remotely interested in manipulating your messages?

In the past I have had messages that were from people that left the site, the message was still visible but there was an indication that the user was no longer on the site. Also I have hadmessages from somebody that blocked me was I was still able to see the previous messag

They are deleted automatically now sometimes to help free up server space I believe.

Well this is something I am trying to find out. It just seems strange that the messages disappeared the way they did. As i mentioned in one of my posts - I still have some messages from somebody that blocked me, I also have previously still had messages from people that left the site so I can't understand why this thread of messages should completely disappear.

They do after a certain length of time like another poster said

Site supporters can save messages

I don't think they are deleted you can keep them aslong as you like I think x

As I can still see a few UNLOS with message content.

dont know ive never had messages disappear but i know lots that have said they do

But these messages were between 2 weeks and 3 days old. I have messages that are 38 weeks old so how come they haven't been deleted?

they generally dont reply but they will look into it and im sure if something isnt right they will let you know.

These people whose messages are dissappearing can you still view their profile

No I have so far not been able to make contact with them - mainly as I no longer no what their profile name is as I didn't keep a record of the names.

oh well if they are people you want to be in contact with its usually a good idea to either remember the name, hotlist them, add to friends or save the messages it makes things easier

Although Admin do say they don't reply to every query.... you will get a mail directing you to the FAQ's which says

Fab is a super busy site. Hundreds of thousands of private mails are sent every day and we have tens of millions of such messages on our system. Because we do this mostly for free, we can't keep all the messages for ever because our costs would go up and up and the site would get slower and slower. Older messages that have already been read in "dormant" accounts that haven't been logged into for a while are removed from the system. Similarly if you have loads of mails in your inbox, the system will periodically remove some of the oldest.

I have messages well over a year that were sent to me.. The message you send out disappear after a certain time. The saved messages stay as long as you save them. I have messages from Unlos that are still there too.

Dont expect a reply from admin. If you wish to save all the messages received copy and paste them to an email.

Seems like you should of sent a friend request or hot listed them, either way you seem to have lost out if they have gone UNLOS
