Can you remember your or your partner's mobile no?

Jump to newest

Was watching a programme yesterday saying that statistically our memories are getting worse with each generation. Apparently because we use the Internet and mobile phones so no need to memorise so much information.

Allegedly - half of us don't know our partner's mobile number and some of us, our own.

I must confess I know mine and can remember the first 5 digits of Mr's, but not the rest. Thats terrible really - I should know it without looking!

I find it easy

Maybe that's because I play with numbers every day (number crunching)

I know mine and Marc's. But I don't know my office phone number. I just tell people to look me up in the directory

It's an interesting finding, though.

I impressed someone by doing the same with my card the other day. I decided I'd obviously spent too much on it. Must be your EBay spending Granny?

Landlines were easy. There were three digits for the area e.g 525 was Aintree. 924 was crosby 920 was Bootle. All you had to do was remember the 4 digits that followed.

I (T) can do all that. I can remember numbers from years ago including car reg's, post codes. Weird innit? D can't remember any numbers but can describe past things in fine detail like house interiors and colours, fillums she's seen etc.

Memory is a strange thing and it would be interesting to study it.

I know mine but can never remember my husbands.

I haven't had to remember a phone number in 15 years, I just put them in my phone and jab my finger on their face when I need to call them.

My friend completely lost her new car in a car park! Her partner had bought it for her and she forgot what it was like. She had to wander round clicking the key fob until a car clicked and she knew that was hers. We still laugh about it ....

I can remember my own but I've had it since 1998 so plenty of time to memorise it. Also a couple of other land line and mobile numbers Too cos I've dialled them enough they've sunk in by osmosis

I can still recite all my best friends' numbers from primary school. When you had to dial each number (and wait for the dial to return to position) you had ample time to memorise the number. Phones with memories have ruined that for us.

I'm really good with phone numbers, car Reg numbers etc. Everything else I'm rubbish at remembering. I can't even remember how many pints I had last night. Although I do remember getting up 8 times for a pee.
