Shrewsbury

Had a bet no idea what the horses are called, better have a look at the betting slip before the race.

It's the only time I ever bet comes from being a kid and my dad letting me pick a horse.

I will be betting. Only time I ever do. How do you choose? Do you go by trainer? jockey? Or like us in our household, by names or colours? (We do it this way as it's anyones race)

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I have no idea how to even place a bet.

I wouldn't bet on the Grand National anyway. So many horses are badly injured in it each year. I think this particular race is animal cruelty.

purely by name and chosing the one where you could connect to the name.

I drive past the course often. Those fences are unnecessarily high. I'm amazed there aren't more injuries to horses.

They are HUGE the jumps. Especially at Beecher's and Melling.

That's exactly how my stepdad bets. He went racing for the first time a couple of months back. Chose a name that had one of his granddaughters name in it & was the only one of the group to come away with a decent win. The others had all bet on form etc....

I answered about betting. The animal cruelty point is my reason for not betting on this race.

That and I don't know how to.

I usually go by name and if it's relevant to me or my circumstances... If the odds are good I sometimes go for the favourite but always an each way bet as more chance of winning something

Last Samurai is my pick, as the going is soft and it is not carrying much weight. Those carrying more weight are at a disadvantage in soft ground.

you can either bet on a horse to win outright or bet on it to come in the top 4 (top 5) means they will pay 5th place as well.

If you put £5 on a horse to win it costs £5 if you put £5 its double so if you just wanted to put £5 in total you would do £2.50ew
