I think it depends on the mood of people and how the forums are running at the time, what is acceptable one day is not the next, threads that have been discussed in the past seem to be quite unacceptable recently, maybe it's the changing face of the forums

personally, i think its easier to say what are the wrong types of thread ... for me that would be anything that deliberately sets out to cause upset, hurt, or provoke others in a negative way - trolling I guess.

anything else,..well, there will be topics I do/dont like , there will be posters I'll like and not like, there will be styles ( jokey, serious, debating, sarky ) that i'll like and not like ....but they wont be the wrong types of thread, just wrong for me. And in those circumstances its for me to choose not to participate.

For me there is NO unnaceptable thread apart from what is laid out in the rules. i.e drugs and underage sex.

If I don't like a thread I rarely contribute.

I really do not like the 'the one above' threads and even when I posted undeniably stupid ones like ..... the person BELOW~ you or Yes/no ..... they still get answered .....

I wouldn't ask for them not to appear cos the suit some of the forumites.

So .... in short. NO there isn't a right type of thread.

I don't think there are any "right" kinds of threads. There are threads that bore me...so I avoid. There are threads that could be done in a private message as it's for one person or a group of friends, but again, I just avoid. There are threads by certain people I know will only kill off the few remaining grey cells I have left, so avoid. There are threads that are posted to start conflict...and try as I might I can't avoid... :*. Threads that simply annoy ie bareback, professionals as I don't know why other's people's choices should be up for discussion.

Apart from that...I'm cool me!!!

I give advice if they don't like it then tough. Like the woman the other week asking about safe sex we all gave her advice and copy abd pasted info from the NHS for her only to be told we bored her etc, so why bother asking?

You made a comment on this thread, and I commented on that comment on this thread.

I think everyone picks and chooses their interest and will contribute accordingly.

Dislikes - well the main ones - anything with violent content calling for blood. Posters who have come in at the end of a thread and have not bothered to read the previous posts and rattle off the same as everyone else has been saying spoils the flow for me, if its a subject requiring a degree of advice. If a thread has over 40 posts Im unlikely to contribute as statistically my thoughts will already have been conveyed.

One guy has a jokes thread going with hundreds of replies I like to dip into I dont have the time to read all of the jokes that have been posted which I missed, so I would like part two to begin afresh so I dont have to sift through before contributing and lower the chances of a repeat joke...

Im wary of starting off a new joke thread incase I break some weird rule about posting a subject thats already on the go!

Some people start off using the forums by answering on the yes/no/maybe threads.

They then progress to relatively easy topics of what did you have for dinner/can you knit/do you know the off-side rule? type threads.

Not every one has the courage to dive head on into a full out political/economic/specialised subject mastermind type of thread.

It bugs me when the same or similar question has been asked in multiple forums, by the same person. Can't there be a rule against 'flooding' the forums if you get what I mean?

That and the "person above you" threads.

Well i take exception to that as what i put up wasn't an attack it referred to some people being self-righteous and also used the word asshole but did not quote, direct or use it against any other member. You remove yet allow liberal use of cunt, fuck, twat on a regular basis. In my opinion there is double standards being applied here. That is if i am allowed an opinion which i am beginning to wonder.

"

The issue here is that just because you regard someone as a self righteous ass-hole, it doesn't mean that they are.

To someone else, they may be bang on in their post/_iew/opinion.

Look at the IDS/welfare reform thread.

There are some pretty strong opinions being voiced there, and those opinions regularly conflict directly with someone elses.

Several of the posts could be said to have been made by 'self righteous ass-holes'- but on both sides of the debate.

So, in short, one persons self righteousness, is another persons 'point well made'.

I believe that no thread is out of bounds as such, apart from illegal topics of course. Whilst underage sex is an illegal activity, a thread about why people find a grown woman in a schoolgirl outfit sexy when they are clearly impersonating a school age child, could be a good interesting discussion thread.

I am not keen on certain types of thread but it is the posters right to be able to post whatever they want. Discussion threads are my favourite rather than whimsical, but sometimes we need a bit of lightheartedness. I prefer to understand what the thread is about though. A "do you like brown sauce or tomato ketchup on a bacon buttie" is a better way to word a post rather than "brown or red", cos you get loads of replies and quips and stuff like, give us a clue etc, and the OP doesnt come on the thread for a few hours and when they do they say, god I thought it was obvious what I meant and the regulation smiley to go with it.

Im not keen on the would you fuck threads, noone speaks the truth, it would be more fun for everyone to be honest on those, but you'd get comments like, "would I hell, with a hairy pussy like youve got" or "i couldnt play with a man whos holding a sky remote against his cock" type of comment, but it would be fun for the half hour it ran for until it was pulled.

Threads spefically aimed at friends are not my favourite either. Im not keen on any thread which excludes the majority and those just lead to the clique obsession threads.

The main thing though is that the forum represents diversity and thats why we keep coming back

Diversity is good but why do people feel the need to go all googly eyed smiley, and post "oh not this again" if they dont like it? Why dont they just do a Dionne Warwick?

Become a United Nations Global Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization?

That seems a bit far-fetched.

Different strokes ...different folks ....use the threads you want ....

Some threads don`t interest me ...but are extremely popular ....crack on ...have fun ...

Can`t think theres a right thread ...tho some have dubious motives ..

"So what are the do's n don'ts of starting a thread? Is there such a thing as the right kind of thread?

Sometimes it doesn't matter how you start any thread, they often end up finishing the same way!"

Ain`t it the truth hahahaha ...ah well ...

Because their lack of tolerance and self control is outmatched only by their snobbery - without which their bottoming self esteem would reveal to them their true social standing (none ) - hence they deflect the title of cunt to some unsuspecting person seeking to partake in a little textual amusement. ...... thus

I think self control is a must on these threads. I've seen some posts and I've wanted to jump in and have my say but haven't incase I offend someone. It's easier to say nothing sometimes then upset someone well that's my take on it and as someone pointed out to me yesterday I won't stay nice for long .

If you're nice you will remain nice - don't let someones cynical comment sway you into behaving in a manner thats not you xxxx

It's in my nature and Renos to stay like that. We don't do snide comments. If you've nothing nice to say don't say it at all.
