I find the anime "women" to look like girls with pneumatic, difficult to achieve bodies. My objection is that as in lots of fiction beforehand things haven't moved on much from the damsel in distress waiting to be rescued.

Comics and a lot of fiction writing are about fantasy worlds. As long as guys can separate fantasy from reality, I don't see the problem. If objectifying female characters leads them to objectify women, they need to actually get a life. Vampirella is one of my favourite characters. She wears almost nothing. I think her outfit is great. Most of the fiction I read has very strong female characters in. Very few sit around waiting to be saved, and in fact, sometimes the guys need saving from them." | |||

Over-sexualisation is a creepy and tacky gimmick, but if adding that layer of to a female character might ADD to them - like as you mentioned, Vampiress/Temptress/Femme Fatale characters, who it makes sense would use their beauty to their advantage, then yes, I think sexually provocative female characters are a good thing.
