Having Character

If you could be a character from any novel, who would you be?

And this isn't about the story in the book or the time or place in which the book occurs. This is about that specific character's, well, character - his/her personality.

Tell us who and why, please

-Courtney

Quietly spoken, unassuming. More intelligent than he makes out. Thankful for every morning he wakes, and always tries to do the right thing..but with an unstoppable raging demon living inside his head that is unleashed in direst need.

Ooh, good question.

My instant thought was Jack Reacher, (though I hate the books, I like the character). Then Selina Kyle, because I am obsessed with catwoman.

I'm not sure either of those is my best answer though.

Raskolnikov.

I love a good anti-hero and he's the biggest of the lot. Although he sins in accordance with his inflated ego, he learns that he's unable to live with the guilt and is able to renounce his sense of entitlement. He accepts his pennance willingly and with ultimate bravery. It's a psychological rags to riches story, beautifully told.

I'd like to think that I could make a similar journey, though without plans to kill anyone just yet

Geralt of Rivia, I'm not sure if I could describe him without touching on the story though (8 books so quite the story).

He is a witcher (monster slayer for hire). I like him as character because he constantly has to face moral dilemmas and often has to chose the 'lesser evil' so to speak. He constantly faces prejudice against his persona even when showing kindness and offering help to people. Also has a best friend which constantly gets him in trouble and names all of his horses the same name.

TLDR: Liam Neeson's character from Taken set in the medieval fantasy times.

OK I've asked him, and he thought about it for ages. He finally said he would like the character of Edmond Dantès from the count of monte cristo.

He was really specific that he chose him grudgingly, that he wouldn't want to have certain traits, but that his intelligence and strategy were admirable.

He's still thinking of someone better but I made him choose someone now
