In work I'm a bit of a hard-nosed bastard... mostly because I have to be in my line of duty. So yes, I do both whilst at work.

Outside of work, I'm completely different though

Im the same - at work I can't sugar coat it and have to be very direct, assertive and honest - at home I try and use tact where possible x

I am more diplomatic at work in order to keep the peace, and only just a little bit more.

When peeps ask me for my opinion/view, they know they'll get the truth as I see fit with no BS.

Always, but if someone gets a compliment from me they know i mean it and not just bullshitting. Would much sooner go to someone for advice that i know is going to give me the truth rather than what i want to here even if i may not like it

always....i'm often told i'm blunt.

i don't see the point in keeping folk wondering what it is i'm thinking or making them figure out what it is i'm trying to say...it takes up too much of my time.

and i'm exactly the same at work...but the folk i work with have a respect for it and they know i don't bullshit

Not me.

I always sugar coat it, and avoid upsetting people by softening my opinions to avoid causing offence or hurt.

Especially on the internet where people don't know me, nuance and tone are difficult to get across, so i'm always very careful about anything I write.

I'd hate to think there were people who read my posts and didnt like them or found them patronising etc.

That would be simply awful.

My ex always used to say that we had to go places twice - the second time so he could apologise for me!!

I don't think I'm that bad but I do like straight talking and can't be bothered with dithering about a subject or issue.

I would still like to think I have some tact and diplomacy but certainly call a spade a spade and will speak my mind quite clearly.

I don't think being diplomatic isn't saying what you mean - it's saying what you mean without hurting someone's feelings. As the saying goes ... a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down

Sugar x

Saying what I mean - no I dont always, even though the core of what i mean will remain strong .

I would always try and use diplomacy and tact to get my point across even if that means softening the edge of my messages a little to avoid unecessary hurt, distress or humiliation to the other party.

certainly on here I would far rather say ( and hear! ) "sorry you're not for us " than something along the lines of the fact im too fat, too old, too unattractive, enjoy things I wouldnt touch with the end of a stick etc.

I'm respectful and tactful first, but I will stick up for something really important.... but to be honest most daily stuff isn't really that important enough for me to be too blunt or forceful.
