not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds)

I've just been told by a lady that I should feel sorry for her as her period has just started..

Really didn't need the details..

What do folk tell you, that you think.. really didn't need that.

No you don't need those details. If you were meeting and she had to cancel there are other ways to say it

It is a perfectly natural function you know, not some disgusting curse. Most of us women have them, or had them.

Why is mentioning them so taboo? I'd have thought in this day and age we'd be past this.

That's not really "the details". Surprised anyone would be put off by knowing something completely natural is happening

But to answer the question the only time I think TMI is if someone goes into details of operations as I don't like gore.

Maybe she's one of the ones that gets bad cramps and pain. We don't know the context of the discussion.

It's not like she was talking about whether she had a lot of clots or how often she was having to change her tampon

For us this is a fantasy, we don't want to hear about any ailments people have got and wouldn't dream of discussing anything personal going on unless it was a meet that needed cancelling because of it.

It becomes less of a fantasy if you know too much

We don't know the conversation though. It could have been reasonable in context.

So, how are you doing?

I'm ok thanks, got a bit of a headache.

Ah yeah, sorry to hear that, my period just started and I'm feeling a bit rough so I could do with some sympathy too.

For example.

Someone squishing their balls with a phone isn't a fantasy scenario either, (to most!), but that wasn't considered TMI when broadcast to all of us

For some people talking about periods is too much, we can't force people to want to talk about our periods or even listen about them

I don't particularly want to hear about issues like foreskins getting stuck or frenula snapping but guys never think that's TMI. It's just as personal and equally far off fantasy material.

Some guys need to get past thinking periods are dirty and disgusting. I can understand not wanting to hear details but "my period just started and I feel rotten" isn't exactly gory details.

Didn't say it was taboo, ., I said I didn't need the details.. I've two daughters and I've been married so yep I'm aware..

conversation was pleasantries about the mundane weather and it's a lovely sunny evening for a beer, to which I got a reply you enjoy your beer I'm pissed I'm not due on and Im bleeding in my pants.. on this occasion I know why she's grumpy it really is that time of the month..

Another OTT reaction to a post. Anything to do with women seems to get this reaction.

The man didn't say it was disgusting, just that he would rather not hear about it.

When they've been for a dump. A guy at work likes to share details. It's really not my thing - so I head off to the other end of the offices until he's finished telling all.

Oh and puking up stories too! I really don't need to know, so no need to tell me.

Yes it's natural & no it's not disgusting but I wouldn't randomly tell a guy I was 'bleeding in my pants'.

That IMO is TMI.

It's a natural function, I don't see why mentioning it in passing on here is so bad.

Guys post about wanting women to piss all over them and tell us about shitting on coffee table experiences but mentioning we happen to be having a period is TMI?

Again, I can see why they don't want to hear the details. "I'm bleeding in my pants" isn't the nicest way to say it!

I agree. I don't usually do it either, unless it's relevant somehow. But it's no worse than chatting or posting about our toilet habits. People often say they need a pee and who can forget Topsy's post about having an excellent dump?

My _iew is...there is nothing to feel sorry for. Yes sometimes they are a pain for some people but it isn't the end of the world for most and most women just get on with it every month without the need for sympathy.

I also think as this is a fantasy for us so personal stuff, whether that is periods or the likes of my washing machine has broken down is not normally topics of conversation.

There are loads of guys who want to play with Sabrina when she is on her period .

Problem is that she is on Dianet and takes it all the time , so doesn't have them .

Well , at least she didn't until we met a guy into water sports and he got more than he bargained for ..... Say no more , but he absolutely loved it .

Said it was like all his birthdays and Christmas all rolled into one
