"About 6 weeks ago I had a laparotomy. Basically had a big cut about 10 inches through my abdomen. It did get infected but healing now. My question to anyone with experience how long does it take to recover? I am up and about now can walk ok the main problem is fatigue after about half an hour I'm exhausted " It can take a very long time for your body to recover from the shock let alone the operation itself and add in to that an infection and you've had a lot to cope with. The drugs you will have needed will have taken their toll too. Rest, be kind to your body, drink plenty of fluid, feel the sun on your body and sleep if you can. However if I were you I would go and check with my gp just to be sure. Hope you are back to full strength soon | |||
