"Not for me...massive turn off I'm afraid Sassy I should add, I do love tattoos and they're, usually, very sexy. But I may be a bit of a tatt snob.... " I love all ink. The more the better. But this post is specifically about patriotic ones. I've already done posts on tattoos generally.

"I could also imagine that the kind of bloke to have that kind of tattoo would probably be one of those over the top patriots that probably think UKIP should run the country and agree with Britain First type posts on social media A bit stereotypical, I know. Sassy" since you live in that part of the world would the same be true of lets say a welshman having a tattoo of a dragon?.... just curious

Sassy" Well I think that's a bit unfair. I don't think anyone who is proud of their country has to be a Britain first supporter. That's ridiculous. Quickly becoming apparent on here that they certainly give a certain impression of people. Any perspective from any men or women who do have these tattoos?

I do admit to being a bit stereotypical here and, of course, it doesn't mean that everyone with those kind of tatts is what I've just described above but it is probably how I would interpret them from a pic on fab alone.

Yet the only person I know with a Union Jack, navy and Royal Marines tattoo is my son-in-law who doesn't fit that mould at all. Go figure!

"Even better if combined with the emblem of military unit be served in. I love a bit of patriotism on a Man " LoL! What a load of uninformed crap! Just to be clear member of any armed force who has or would have their National Flag or cap badge tattooed on their body is an idiot! In one single move they make sure that if ever caught behind enemy lines or if they fall into enemy hands their body identifies them and gives the enemy information that they are not obliged to reveal and at time directly ordered not to divulge. In fact in my day there were a number of units that having any tattoos was an automatic bar to entry and I would be surprised if that had changed.

"I have seven tattoos two of which are bulldogs , one wears a union flag waistcoat. I am far from being a thug. I had all of mine done as a young British Soldier. A career I left 20 years ago. I now work in a very important job. I drink wine not lager. Je vacances en Normandie. Not Benidorm. Mine are remnants of a life less ordinary. " Well said! Mirrors my feelings exactly.

I had to wait until I was 18 as I can still hear my old mum saying " No way am I signing you're death warrant ".

"It matters little if it's a British military tat/Welsh/Irish etc. It's a class thing and when we see that type of tattoo we assume the person is very laddish or lower class now that might not be the case but any Irish folk I know with the flag as a tat wouldn't get near me, " I think it is interesting that you have specifically mentioned Irish when the thread started as British. Was that just a typo or is there some other reason?

"Tacky and unoriginal. It's also a bit dated. What particular piece of land you were born on shouldn't be a defining characteristic of your personality. " of course where your born can have a massive part to play in the building of your charecter and being patriotic isn't something only lower classes are guilty of. Being proud of your roots and history is something no one should be ashamed of. Unfortunately in England these symbols of nationalism seem to have been hijacked by the far right which hasn't happened in the Celtic countries as yet.

There are no hidden motives in my comments, if I don't like you I will tell you. I also thought this was about tattoos and as the op liked British tats then that was her thing. The whole point of the forum is to gather differing opinions right ?. Might I ask what you think my motives are seeing as you felt you had to call me on it

" It's almost worse here because we have moron using the tricolour and IRA symbols as a front for general moronic criminal behaviour. Something very fewell Irish support in this day and age. It sickens me to see my countries flag linked to conflict but again I find well worked original tattoos extremely hot on a guy or girl
