I'm still enjoying the gym, adding in extra sets. Diet's been a bit erratic due to birthdays, being away etc but hopefully it won't be too bad at the scales tomorrow

After a couple of wobbly weeks, I got back on track with my weight watchers and gym routine. Lost another pound. So that's 2 and half stone now.

had a bit of a wobble at group on Tuesday....had a cry and felt like a twat!!

since then i have been trying o refocus and get back on track. i have done a crap load of exercising (4 sessions on Thursday alone) and have ben writing my food down as much as i can remember.

Food has been a bit pants this weekend as i have been away LARPing but i have also walked for miles and miles and fought orcs and the Empire so its ben a pretty active weekend. Dealing with the mud alone was a workout in itself

Muscle weighs more than fat so this could be why you have gained weight

Ive cried SO many times on the scales..

writing it down i think is the key to keeping me on track. As you've just seen, i have a remarkable consultant at the moment and its since he's been with us i have lost my weight.

I love your enthusiasm for exercise.. x x

If id not jumped on the scales for the past 3 week id not have felt like id gained.. I certainly feel healthier and fitter

I'm really enjoying upping my efforts now the weathers picking up both out running and huge amounts..to me at least..of cycling which I love.

I seem to be doing pretty OK gym wise at the moment as things are toning up quite nicely while I'm avoiding gaining any bulk/getting larger or heavier which I'm really keen to avoid.

Gym first thing in the morning and some nice rides planned for the week including a Bristol to Cardiff possibly Thursday.

Easiest way of losing weight is to cut out sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks etc and drink water. I also learnt that taking chromium tablets that helps take the edge of the sweet tooth craving. It's a lack of chromium that gives u those cravings. Since doin all that I've lost half a stone plus I exercise 5 days a week

Ultimately i knew id have to do it, but glad i lost 3 stone 1st else i think the walking would have dont more damage initially.. least this way i gave my joints some kinda break :D

Im a smidge mifed that in the month ive been at the gym/more active i havent lost any weight (ive actually gained).. but im hoping it will change in time.

Taking my daughter Butlins in the summer and im more than confident i'll be the one dragging her here there n everywhere rather than her having to stop and wait til i catch my breath

Great thread! Can anyone join?

I'm really loving the gym at the minute (well.. as a high-level concept.. when I'm actually in there, it tends to be more of a love/hate thing). I started about two years ago, at 115kg (18 stone) and lost 30kg or so with the aid of a spin bike, which I loved. I then discovered kettlebell training about 18 months ago and that has totally changed my attitude to training. I train about 4 times a week (usually at around 6.30am!) and have put around 5kg back on, but I'm not worried about that as it's likely mostly muscle (says he hopefully..). I love the attitude of people on these threads - really positive, and actually get quite motivated reading about everyone's efforts..

Weight stayed the same this week, which I was peed off about. Gym is going well though - muscles are slightly sore, esp stomach and triceps - so I must be using ones I haven't used for ages. Plus doing 30 min walk a day or ten mins of stair climbs, plus other exercise. Not easy with an injury - but that's slowly improving - but still frustrating.

Now Easter is been and gone, back to logging all my food on My Fitness Pal. Still debating whether to get a fit bit, but not sure what it will add to my fitness/diet regime. This week - aiming to lose 2lb.

We had a new council run one built and it's lovely but the fuckers now want to sell it to a private company....I already live in one of the most deprived areas and it was built because of the obesity levels in the area...I will still use it if it's privatised as it will still be affordable but to some it might not be so.

Strange thing though , my weight didn't bother me. Face it I'm not 21 ! I just started to feel heavy if you know what I mean ? So I just thought I would lose a few pound. Once it started coming off I thought great and have kept going. Down from a 38 waist to 34. So although I'm losing the weight its costing me pounds to but new clothes !

Sitting with my coffee after just finishing a nice, challenging kettlebell session - swings with 28kg, clean & presses with the 24kg, finishing off with snatches with the 20kg. 18 months ago, when I was learning with 10s & 12s, those weights would've been unthinkable. Reminds me that looking back and considering your progress can be very motivating! Of course, coffee & caramel squares can also be very motivating!

"im not entirely sure how to use kettlebells.. "

They're definitely something you need a bit of 'coaching' in as the combination of their weight and the fact that they're usually moving about means that your form has to be good or you run the risk of injury. I went to a set of classes at the start to learn how to use them safely and properly, and never regretted it. They really give you a good workout if done right, and although they wouldn't be as good for building muscle as barbells (deadlifts, etc.), I'm really happy with the progress I've made.

Pity I'm not a bit closer - I could take you for a bit of one to one coaching.. Lol..

"im not entirely sure how to use kettlebells..

Lol..

oooh errr

Im a proper novice to this fitness thing but im a month in and really enjoying it.

I go the gym 3 times a week and i do my own little work outs at home..

"

You've obviously got the exercise bug - that's brilliant! And don't downplay the 'little work-outs' - any additional movement in your life is a good thing. Since I started exercising a the gym and lost weight, I find I also naturally do more 'informal' exercise (walking rather than taking the car, etc.) as it feels better and easier. In truth, my attitude is less about being strong and healthy now, and more about building a base to remain strong and healthy as I get older.

Halifax

Was eating loads of veg and fibre and press ups and miles on the bike AND off the fags for nearly a week. Then I happened to find a packet this morning and am chuffing through them now.

Stupid.

Back on the wagon again tomorrow hopefully.

I had lost 4 stone 5lbs.. and since Xmas put a stone back on. I simply must stop the weight going back on.. I now still have 3 stone to lose. Just been for a 4 mile walk. Legs hurt now.

It's a hard battle.. I wish everyone motivation. X

That's a brilliant loss! And great that you're able to see the exercise as an assistance to your loss. I found that while exercise wasn't the primary reason behind my weight loss (the primary reason was much improved eating habits), it definitely underpinned my efforts and allowed a bit of margin for error and the occasional slip-up in my food intake..

Definitely very motivating progress to see!

I believe in the food plan that i use 100%

For me the exercise is to assist with the body shape changes and to improve fitness levels.

Going to Butlins in July and id love to be able to stomp around not worrying about where the next bench seat is to rest. x

Thanks. I did it myself just avoiding anything with over 5% fat and it dropped off.

Then I over ate at Xmas and lost my mojo. It's so easy to put back on!

Agreed, it's just so easy to out back on and go back to old habits. I've lost all bar a pound of what I put back on which has evened out over about 4 weeks. I'd like to get to 2 stone off next week but 3.5lbs may be a little too much in a week. I'll stick to the plan and see what happens.

I've just made batches of bolognese, chilli, meatballs. Soup is tomorrow's job. I find it much easier to stick to the plan when I have meals ready to go in the freezer too.

After a week off work, it was tough getting up this morning to be in the gym for 6.30 am. And, as ever, Monday is a challenge - I started a new kettlebell programme on Saturday and today was meant to be a light day, but it was nearly as difficult as the hard day! But I survived, and now feel quite good, so all positive! Sometimes it's all about getting marked present..

Weighed myself today and I'm amazed I hadn't put any weight on over Easter as I allowed myself to go off the rails especially with the chocolate!

Starting fresh today though, really just wanna get my head down and focus and get to my total 3 stone loss which is 11lb away at the moment. Its so frustrating how easy the first 2 stone came off and now I'm struggling, think I might just need a good kick up the bum as well though lol. Shall do cardio, abs and arms today

I'm on 18.5lbs lost this year now, and down to the lowest weight I got to last summer. Have slacked a bit the last couple of weeks, so time to get back on it now and start losing 'new' weight.

In terms of exercise, I found a non scary absolute beginners running club so joined that, and didn't totally hate the first session

Running is great (I've just come back from a 30 minute run). Most people go at it in the wrong way though.

They buy shoes and then try to be Mo Farah, find it hard work to run at full pelt and give up.

Great that you have found a club. As long as you take it steady and grow into it, it can be a fantastic escape from daily pressures.

It's a group where they build you up to running a few miles over a 10 week period, so will definitely be building up steadily...I'm too heavy to go full pelt, my knees wouldn't take it, so no fear of that

Maintaining is a really good place to be, as that can sometimes be harder than losing the weight to begin with.

I'm just back from my hour in the gym. Did some boxicise today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I imagined my training partner was my boss as I thumped the pads.

Stress sends me looking for cakes and I can happily polish off a bar of chocolate without stopping for breath.

Have to be very disciplined with food. But forgive yourself the odd failure

can relate to the stagnant feeling. Didnt loose anything for the month of March

i had a gain of 4lb, loss of 2, gain of 1.5.. loss of 6.5.. last week gained 3.5

so pee'd off but my health benefits are amazing!

This week im really focusing on pure clean eating and getting in lots of Speed Food (i follow Slimming World)

8 weeks on Saturday til my holiday, I need to ramp it up to get rid of another stone

can relate to the stagnant feeling. Didnt loose anything for the month of March

i had a gain of 4lb, loss of 2, gain of 1.5.. loss of 6.5.. last week gained 3.5

so pee'd off but my health benefits are amazing!

This week im really focusing on pure clean eating and getting in lots of Speed Food (i follow Slimming World) "

I'm loosely following SW. Kinda split between SW and calories (my fitness pal)

Using the SW mentality but keeping an eye on calories

"Bump... how you all getting on? Been a blinder of a week for me so far.

Just got 2 more days before weigh in x

Great work from you! Hope you get the payback you deserve come weigh-in time

I've been very good gym-wise, I was in again this morning at 6.30, so it's catching up with me now..

Part of me is dreading it though.. the weeks i work really hard for it i typically end up gaining with frustrates me no end "

When I lost my weight I did the thing that nobody recommends and weighed myself daily - although it was difficult, it was very instructive as to how much your measured weight varies even on a day to day basis. And very often when I was doing even more exercise and eating fewer calories, my weight either stayed constant or went up. The human body is a mysterious thing!!

Gym at 8 this morning - cardio vascular session done ! Only lost 1lb but think that's a hormone thing, so will keep going. Lost inches though and definitely getting better at planks now! Back there on Thursday. Will do a long walk tomorrow too.

Not bad..judo twice a week, run on average 20 miles per week. Am doing the para 10 challenge in May. Generally do Kettlebells and weights twice a week too..i try to get a fair amount of pullups and pushups in each day using the 'grease the groove' protocol. Rest on Sunday...reckon i am in very good shape for my age..sub 20 5k etc

Put on 1lb, probably due to the meal out I had on Friday. Got my gold body magic award but I'm not really doing anything more than what I was doing when I started SW. Only lost 8.5lbs in 3 months so I think I'll give it another month then call it a day.

Adding in an extra day at the gym this week as I won't make Sunday's session. Away to Leeds this weekend and a bit worried about it

Congrats on the Gold body magic,, i got my Silver last week.

its never ONLY just 8.5 lb.. thats still huge.. imagine how much you might have potentially gained had you never walked through the SW doors.. you could be a stone heavier than you started... i think youve done fab xx

Stagnating weight loss is demotivating, I'm there at present. However, think about what you have achieved in terms of the weight loss and getting active - the Sport Relief mile, regularly going to the gym etc. Imagine what you will be doing now when you take your daughter on holiday in a couple of months compared with if you hadn't started this journey. You're an inspiration Ms Cute and Sassy so please stick at it with the rest of us. Could you use some of the holiday weeks to take a small break from SW if you want?

I buy the 12 week countdowns to keep me on the straight and narrow. Our group is really motivational and on Fbook everyone posts recipe idea's and what they've eaten.. I enjoy being apart of that.

My fitness is sooo vastly improved and i love it.. Resting heart rate 6 week ago was 84.. now its down to 65.

I can walk all over the place.. Guess thats what i wanted the weight loss for so that i could be a better mum and more active.. Ultimately its about the numbers on the scales and im still best part of 27 stone.

I will get there. :D

Ah no.. that's difficult for you. I'm sure you were devastated..

Please don't let it throw you off course - you've done so well so far and you've made great progress towards a larger more important goal of being fit for your daughter.. I hope they gave you some support tonight?

Sometimes weight gain just happens, could be water retention for example.

Disappointing all the same but as you say Cute, you're good at drawing a line under & moving on.

Onwards & upwards for next week!

Gym session done - I've never been so hot (temperature wise!) as I was today. Got a fitness test next week to check progress - should be better hopefully.

Question - omelettes, are those made with just egg whites better for you protein wise than with the yolk included too?

I know that feeling very well..the fitting into the clothes not the chatting up so much.

I used it as a motivator and went straight out and bought a new pair of one size smaller jeans evey time I managed it..all the way from 52" down to a 34" where I decided to stay.

Weighing myself every Sunday morning and trying the jeans was my weekly ritual and really kept me focused on my goal.

I've all been there when I've tried losing weight previously. Just come out fighting after a (therapeutic) cry! You've come so far in a relatively short space of time.

Have recently found going uphill off road and on thick grass much more enjoyable than running on the flat. So much more achievement when you get to the top x

Started my training again after my shoulder mishap and various scans, rehabilitation for 9 months along with physio therapy. Started off with light exercises and small weights as I've lost my of my power along with mass and dropped down from 215 to 185 which I'm devastated about.

Got back on my musclemeds carnivor protein shakes, cnp nourishment bars. Doing cardio to get my stamina back along with sprints. slow and steady but I will conquer my goals and get back to 215 again. Jeans are falling off without a belt and drowning in my clothes so I'm on a low at the moment. Hoody on, head phones in and go into my world of dominance where I can do anything.

I've been gaining a bit and losing a bit for a few weeks now without really getting anywhere as my heart's not quite in it at the moment. Have been sticking with the jogging though, and I can feel my stamina improving, so I feel good about that though
