Twitter in the news

Has anyone noticed how, in its attempt to be down with the kids, the BBC has taken to quoting twitter users in several stories?

I am the only one that finds this cringe worthy to see in the news? Isn't the news supposed to be about the facts, rather than friendlybob1988's text speak message of support...

It drives me insane. I could not give a flying fuck what some random thinks of a news story. I wish they would just present the facts.

The last time I saw it happen, it was a story about parking near a school or something. They showed 3 tweets, supporting it, against it and neutral. I think it's just them trying to stay relevant really

Thank you so much. I was worried it was just me being a grumpy old man. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why I'm supposed to care about this stuff. Most of the tweets use slang or text speak too, which doesn't belong on the news in my opinion.

Lol, I thought I was the only person it bothered. My family moan at me for shouting at the TV when it happens. I- literally- shouted out 'Yes!' When I read your post.
