Can anyone explain in VERY simple terms what the results mean.

Been looking online but still feel a bit in the dark.

Just took mine there and its 146/101 but that means nothing to me.

A normal blood pressure should be 125/80 .....yours is a little high ,you need to get it check ASAP

Hard to explain but when you have your blood pressure taken the doctor or nurse listen for 2 bumps which is your blood pressure.

Yours is high 120 over 80 is deemed to be normal. Get it sorted out as doing nothing would be the worst thing to do

Yours is raised but an individual reading on its own should not be taken as gospel. Speak to your GP and they can investigate.

Rather high....you should be looking at 120/80ish

However, one single reading does not make a full diagnosis of a problem. BP can vary from hour to hour, by activity, by metabolism, so if it is high it needs to be monitored and then if still high, it needs to be treated by lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, more sex etc) and possibly by pills.

If you do have high BP, do not use the little blue pills unless cleared to do so by your GP.

The first thing to do is get some expert advice....I am an amateur and I suggest that everyone else responding is also an amateur.

Were you using an over-the-counter monitor? Did you use it as instructed?

Get it checked.

On what basis do you suggest I'm not medically trained?

Those figures suggest you're mildly hypertensive. A visit to the doctor is highly recommended.

She should get it looked at and I agree she shouldn't use the little blue pills. But how do you know what medical training people on here have?

I know but they are often found at a very good price Up The Midl at Lidl.

146 is your systolic pressure, that is the pressure at which the heart pumps the blood out into the arteries and around the body, 101 is the diastolic pressure, or refill/resting pressure. Depending on age, size and fitness determines your BP. If you are worried have a chat to your doctor. Diagnosis is impossible to make on here. Xxxx

107 over 67 and 72 pulse .

his 139 over 82 and 52 pulse

Also other medications and co-morbidities can affect BP, and pulse rate xxxxx

They are very useful if you know what the results mean and use them to monitor your blood pressure. I have used one for the last 8 years and it has helped me in maintaining my blood pressure after being diagnosed with malignant hypertension 8 years ago.

I also suffered with white coat hypertension that inflates my BP whenever I see a medical practitioner to have my BP taken. Therefore the home monitor provides an ongoing monitor of my condition.

You say "being treated" which would indicate being on medication? Every year or so D has a monitoring device fitted as supplied by the surgery. It averages out the readings during a normal day. The results usually come back as just above normal for her age and physiology.

You should probably ask for this from your surgery

I had to learn about them. In fact I taught my GP a few things he didn't know

Yes. I've been on the pill and take anti-anxiety medication for about 20 years. Just last week been put on Ramipril for the high bp. In for a few more tests next week so I'll tell Dr I got the monitor and ask what I should be looking for when I get the readings.

sounds like the most sensible thing to do. As well meaning as folk are on here they don't know your medical history and they aren't all doctors.

If you've only just started taking Ramipril it will take a little while to take effect. Take a few readings at different times each day and keep a record. Show these to the Doctor. Good luck
