"Yet to have one that tastes nice or hasn't gone rock hard " Yes, there's some pretty good ones nowadays. They're not as shit as what they used to be. Can't name any off the top of my head but if you go for the more expensive ranges then they're generally pretty good.

"Scrambled eggs done in the microwave is just wrong on all levels " it turns out better than if i use a pan and hob. just need to keep an eye on it and stir it every minute to keep the eggs moist, and it doesn't burn to the pan like how it does when i use the cooker.

"Scrambled eggs done in the microwave is just wrong on all levels " The key to cooking eggs in the microwave (I poach mine) is to turn the microwave down instead of nuking them on full power (which will make them go rubbery). Most people just stick everything on full blast.

"Yet to have one that tastes nice or hasn't gone rock hard " Yes I've had many nice microwave meals. Granted these are typically ones I've made previously and heated up the next day if there was any leftovers.

Granted these are typically ones I've made previously and heated up the next day if there was any leftovers." I have also picked up a weight watchers beef hotpot once. That was reasonably tasty but I think (can't remember off the top of my head) that whilst it took the calories down, it compensated on this and was quite high in salt, which obviously helped the flavour. So probably OK for a quick once off now and then.

" Crikey and again its the first time ever I have heard of being able to change the wattage on a microwave, must be made of special hardware to convert like that some pedigree there..

"If it weren't for microwaves I would have starved to death years ago. I can't cook and don't enjoy cooking. Compared to going hungry, most microwave meals are preferable." I'm exactly the same. Toast and supernoodles are my staples.

"Never buy ready meals from supermarkets, despite the labels you just dont know what they put in them. Prefer to spend a bit of time occasionally preparing my own using the oven and slow cooker, then freezing them in tubs. Simple to pull one out and microwave in just a few mins for a tasty meal, I know exactly whats in them.....and it works out a damn site cheaper than getting the ripped off by the greedy supermarkets!" I dont call spending a £1 or £1.50p on a microwave meal a rip off even thou some may be more..

"Yet to have one that tastes nice or hasn't gone rock hard " Yes, I've had a few. I work near Iceland and Lidl, they fill a gap and at least it's something hot in the winter months. For a quid or a little more, you can't go wrong.

"Can't remember the last time I used my microwave to cook a microwave meal. I do use it because it is a combination oven and grill and cooks things so much faster. It makes fabulous jacket potatoes and has a few settings that work a treat for different things. But I avoid microwave meals and cook from raw ingredients as much as possible."
