Having been on a few dating sites,it has come apparent that the most common past time for the single person is the gym,you always see regular folk there, yet their remains a certain taboo to go up to a stranger in the gym and chat away, bizarre it seems when clearly the two people have something in common straight away!!!!

I usually just say hi and have a little chat with the receptionist as I enter and leave the gym, cos my workouts are very intensive and I got no time to chat with anyone when I am in the zone

Central

I find it odd that people pursuing fitness are solitary - but it probably depends on the gym - some foster a friendly environment, with a social atmosphere. It helps if you're all from an organisation, with more in common.

Otherwise gyms would just be an extension of our increased isolation, around and nearby others but not with them.

I chat with a lot of people and don't wear music head has they isolate you.

Goole

I just go in and do what I have to do and go N.F.I talking to people (even though there are some hotties there), too many people admiring themselves in the mirrors.

I often have a chat to a few people in group exercise class like circuit training and body pump. Some very sexy ladies there too.

Only used to go for the steam room so don't bother any more. When I did go, I wouldn't speak to anybody though, I'd normally take it as "me time" - a rare chance to get some peace and quiet.

I have a laugh in the gym, but still put a lot of effort in and work hard in there, cause if I don't my training partner starts calling me a pussy lol

I go to the gym and I chat to other people either before or after a class or when I'm in the pool/steam room/sauna or jacuzzi some people don't want to chat as I don't always want to sometimes you go for some me time and to relax without having to be social able

to me exercise is a solitary thing. .so I hate the gym ..besides they all gave me funny looks last time I went to one. .like there was something wrong with wearing thigh boots on the treadmill. .

I'm particularly friendly after the gym as I like to massage sore and needy muscles. It's a great way to become even more pumped up.

Brighton - even Hove!

I'd be wary of a stranger coming up to me and chatting.
