An interesting program on bbc4 now about the universe and where it started, are you also watching it and whats your view on it? One thought is that there are no beginning or an end.

I'm not sure there is a scientific consensus amongst the finest minds to have ever studied astrophysics.

All I can say is I don't know.

Brighton - even Hove!

You are at the centre of your universe and you're also made from star dust. I don't believe the universe hours on for ever because then that would mean infinite exact same worlds as this and that can't be right.

its string theory that confuses me, the fact that many of the dimensions needed are curled up inside ours.

Oh that and some fundamental particles have to rotate twice through 360 degrees before the same face returns, i mean wtf, where did the extra 360 degrees go.

But what if we existed in 2 dimensions the flat people that is to say we had length and width but the concept of depth was not known to us? Would we try and find the third dimension? Could we some how make the journey into the world of depth a dimension that exists but not one the flat people can see?

The trouble with that theory is it's no more illuminating than thinking it was created by the supernatural... I mean what does the giant brain live in, a body? What's the body in... It's just an ancient repetitive way of trying to explain something we can't grasp right now!

The physical form is energy, it's just a different form of it!.

Your atoms don't die, you do, they go on to form lots of other stuff, the truth is you've always been part of the universe and you always will be, the six most abundant elements in the universe are what hydrogen, helium, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, sulphur?.

Helium is chemically inert so that apart, you'll also find that the six most abundant elements in living things like humans are also hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, sulphur and phosphorus.

It's not a coincidence!

Carbon is the most important element to living things because it can form many different kinds of bonds and form essential compounds.

Yes so carbon has more bonded structures than all the other elements put together thanks to its chemical ability....

However there wouldn't be any carbon without hydrogen and helium, the basic building block of the stars which turn those two elements into all the others...
