Poppers are NOT okay

Just to reiterate my response to the poppers are okay thread -

The reality is that poppers ARE harmful. Strangely it's the legal newer variant of isopropyl nitrite that can cause irreparable damage to the eyes. The older ones (butyl and amyl nitrite) which are banned aren't as harmful.

For the facts search for "poppers maculopathy".

I went for an eye examination and they asked me if I used any recreational drugs and I asked like what and they said poppers and then explained that even occasional use can cause permanent damage to the eyes.

So called reputable outlets for poppers do give you a sheet of paper outlining that they are only to be used for stated purpose (room odorisers).

If you want to get the hit of room odouriser, do a line of Shake N Vac.

Probably far safer.

Oral sex is not OK

Anal sex is not ok

Kissing is not ok

How about allowing people to live and let live particularly on a site that by definition would be viewed as "not ok" by the vast majority of vanilla people.

Just as long as you know the risks involved... the thing with the isopropyl poppers is that it is only a recently discovered problem. Surely it is only right to let people know of the risks and then let them decide ?

Not banned to own or use only banned for sale. Canada does not fall under UK or European law therefore can sell into the UK.

somking can cause lung cancer, bad eating can cause obesity, jumping out of planes with parachutes can cause death.....risks involved in everything. providing people know and understand the risk it is their decision wether or not they take them.

i personally dont care for poppers, they give me a massive headache when in a room with them but if others want to use them that is their business,much like any other drug

Unfortunately some people are just incredibly stupid. Not much you can do to save them.

The bizarre thing with poppers is that the ones that cause blindness are legal - while the ones that aren't so harmful are illegal.

There are plenty of examples in our stupid laws of things that are illegal despite there being plenty of other dangerous things that are not only legal but are allowed to be advertised and promoted. Better not get into that debate on here though.....

I'd always check before ingesting anything. Some won't. Amyl is nice but most of these things and others in life carry risk.

I did put a link to the Lancet article and have no greater evidence than being told about it at an eye examination. If you believe if to be hearsay fine but just ask any opthalmologist or look up 'poppers maculopathy' online.

It is everyone's personal choice what risks they take in life I just think people should know what those risks actually are before making the choice.
