I'd agree were it not for the emotional significance the lyrics took-on during a time I would have gladly swapped places with someone I hope waits for me...

Chams or Socials

"Metallica Nothing else matters

And Snow Patrol chasing cars used to but now just makes me fookin angry (cause the man who dedicated it was a grade A shit!)"

Chasing Cars was my brother's regiment song when he was in Iraq in 06/07 - even now it can make me cry if I'm having a wobbly day. He thankfully came home days after his 21st birthday thanks to a broken down tank but so many of his/our friends didn't.

The Goo Goo dolls - Iris

Prince - Purple Rain

REM - Everybody Hurts

Robbie Williams - She's The One

I'm getting better at not crying - it's more the memories attached to the songs

More recently Hozier Someone New

Freddie Mercury ~ these were the days of out lives. Makes me cry, remember how ill he looked in the video and remember the day it was announced one morning when I was getting ready for school and I broke down in years and had to have the day off, I was 8 but was obsessed with queen, always watched the concerts and listened to it with my gran and grandfather, my first tasted of death and I broke my heart, couple of days later tweety pie my budgie died so I listened to this song a lot and sang the lyrics thinking about my bird! As an adult the lyrics have more meaning and they get me in a different way.

Tove Lo - Habits (Stay High) Hippie Sabotage Remix.

Takes me back to a very happy place that I threw away too soon

Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar.

Very emotive piece associated with Remembrance Sunday, and which I particularly associate with the RAF and the Battle of Britain. There's an exhibit at the RAF Museum which is a broken, smashed Spitfire engine and a memorial to the pilots (who were basically school kids) who lost their lives in that battle.

Symphony of Sorrowful Songs by Henryk Gorecki.

One of the most emotive, poignant pieces of music I've ever heard, composed of three laments, one of which is a message a child wrote to their mother (both captives, presumably Jewish), found scribbled on the walls of a cell of the Gestapo headquarters. It was played on the radio, I was at work in my kitchen, and I stopped what I was doing for the entirety of the piece, and I had tears streaming down my cheeks when it ended. It's all in Polish, but I didn't need to understand what was being sung. Give it a listen, and read up on it...

Alone by The Upbeats

Very melodic, deep and intense drum n bass with hauntingly beautiful vocals. No tears, but it gives me goosebumps and it's just one of those pieces of music that I have to close my eyes and get lost in the moment to, both emotionally and physically.

Sacrifice by Elton John. It was always on in the special care baby unit. It was also playing when we gave consent to turn off his life support.

I've never seen the video or listened to the song to the end since.

Twenty six years have passed and it still jolts me.

Filthy Fuckeryville

Just read a load from after my last post and glad it's not just me my songs get to (means I won't look such a pillock looking watery eyed when they come on in the pub) but also wanted to send huggles to all for some touching moments xx
