Yes I'm going, will probably go & watch Adele for a bit, but I don't think I can take more than half an hour of her.

Now I'm excited that James has just been confirmed.

Adewwl?

Who cares?!

There's far more interesting things to find... for instance...

I found the Underground Piano Bar last year AND played the piano.

And did two meets, somehow...

Can't remember the last time I stood at any of the bigger stages for more than a few mins and just in passing

Too much more to do there

It have changed so much over the years, it is not like how it was, like they mix rap in there now, which I don't think suits it. I will watch it on tv and good adele is there

Glastonbury

Couple of years back I was up at the Green Fields about 4am, chatting round a fire with a German woman I'd met and an ice cream bike/mobile cinema drove up.

Next thing, an upright piano on wheels (pedal powered where the normal pedals would be) hoved in to view.

The two machines did this amusing dance, circling one another before the mobile cinema drove off.

So the guy with the piano starts his act. It's Sunday night/Monday morning by this point and he's clearly fucked, his voice is cracked and he can't sing.

In frustration, he climbs the piano, douses it with petrol and SETS FIRE TO IT WHILE HE DANCES ON THE TOP.

I was applauding like a seal waiting to eat

I feel the people who get annoyed by the main stage headliners are missing so much of what Glastonbury has to offer

Sure do.

The stuff they've done in the south eastern corner is truly remarkable. It's like the Last Days of Rome once it gets going

the folks who get annoyed or dislike the mainstagers are exactly the ones who tend to go off and hunt out more of what glasto has to offer tbf ..... i tend to not get much further north than the railway line but if i do i don't go into babylon

What I love about Glastonbury is that there's something for everyone & you never know what you're gonna find next.

If people like the main stages then that's cool, if they don't, well then that's cool too. This is only my 2nd year but I'm addicted to the atmosphere of the place. I don't care who headlines really, as there's so much more going on.

I'm determined to find the piano bar this year & also catch a secret gig somewhere. Just too excited for words right now & it's still 3 months away,

Adele can sing I give her that but her music is just terrible! Why should she headline it when there are loads of great female solo artists out there! Im off to see pj Harvey at the Eden project which to me is better than the whole of sell, out glastonbury festival

Look. I've grown up with the festival. It's been four distinct entities in the time I've known it, and I'm not old enough to remember anything from the 70s.

It is very commercial and messy, and there was a moment in the late noughties where it seemed to be losing its way but I would argue that Glastonbury has come back from that, and that the anarchic, artistic, fringe element is alive and kicking.

What other festival can boast the massive range of acts? And I don;t just mean down at Mega-City One (the Pyramid & Other stages)... circus, theatre, cabaret, comedy, sideshow weirdness, freakery in abundance.

Yes, it costs a fair bit of money but you don't have to spend that much.

The oldest philosophical truth is that nothing stays the same.

PJ Harvey is also playing Glastonbury this year!

Lots of people love Adele & she's probably the biggest female artist out there right now. I don't know any other females artists at this time who are on the same scale as she is. Her music certainly isn't terrible. I'm not a huge fan but I can see why so many people love her. Everyone's taste is different.

No I'm indifferent to that particular news also... I guess that's because I don't get the hype around her music

"Now I'm excited that James has just been confirmed. "

Nice to see James there, although shame they're on first thing on the other stage- I hope they get more than the usual half hour (or maybe they'll play some other sets around the site during the weekend). Such an underrated band and fantastic live- their new album is decent too. They'd be a headliner at my dream Glasto! ... But like others have said, there's so much more to Glasto than just the music. To those who are going - enjoy!

I've worked for Block 9 since we started the NYC Downlow (big gay disco tent). Glastonbury isn't the same as when I were a lass but there really is no other festival like it. It's the weird and wonderful nonsense you see away from the stages that make it fun.

However, camping with a bunch of drag queens who haven't slept for five days gets on your tits after a while. Might go, might not.

They usually announce that after the resale, so you've missed the boat if you wait for the full lineup announcement!

"I went to Glastonbury once. .not the festival though. .the town. .it seemed full of people that attended the festival in the 1980s but haven't managed to find there way home yet. ."

Not quite correct.

The town is split between the Glastonians (locals) and the Glastafarians (hippies).

The original hippies had nothing to do with the festival. I think it was Greenlands Farm that was the first commune established in the late 60s by English hippies from California.

They were drawn to the town because of the historical and mystical connotations (the Tor, King Arthur, all that balls).

The festival kinda started in 1970, but '71 was the first recognisable festival. Then there was a considerable hiatus before it was revived in '79.

The split between hippies and locals is less pronounced than when I was a kid (I remember businesses with NO HIPPIES signs), principally because the hippies bring in the tourists and foolish people with money.

But the hippies were here before the festival.

Even the local tickets were early this year - just caught the press release a couple of days before.

Can't wait to go!!!

Tickets now all fully paid and counting down the days!

Totally agree with the lineup comments I honestly don't care who plays at what time and what stage Glastonbury is all about Glastonbury!! My biggest piece of advice to anyone that goes for the first time is don't just stand at the pyramid stage all day you might as well go to any other music festival if you do that! Go out and see everything glasto as to offer!

Oh and any hints finding the underground piano bar greatly appreciated been trying to find that place for last 3 years now x

Head up to the Stone Circle field, bear round to your left then carry on through Dragon Field (ex crew camping field) and as you're walking down the path which leads around to Glasto Latino area it's away to your right. When the festival is off, there's a girt concrete tube buried in the hillside and it's certainly no drain!

Can't wait. this year will be my 8th in a row (ignoring 2012) and I'll keep going every year until I physically can't walk through that gate!

Never thought about having a meet there though. Not sure I'd want to.
