"I thought trophy hunting was guys looking for very attractive women " That's in the West! No, killing animals like Cecil the Lion and such like. Perhaps he's excusing Philip famously (infamously?) shooting that tiger?

"Of course he advocates it. His life is pure entitlement and privilege so it's hardly a surprise that extends to killing animals for fun. I bet his advisors are fuming he's come out and said that. "

"Prince William has advocated trophy hunting at the same time as talking about conservation for wildlife. Would have been better to have condemned it, I reckon. What are others' thoughts? " i'd like a level playing field. as animals cannot roam with guns, make trophy hunters fair game themselves. see how they like being hunted down, murdered for pleasure and no retribution. human society is going backwards quickly. we call ourselves civilized???

" Yeah, you're absolutely right. I mean, it's not like he has a proper job flying helicopters for a charity or anything.

"Makes sense to me. You need money to pay for man power to stop poachers. You need to manage the population of the animals in the reserve, so charge wealthy foreigners to pull the trigger. " Exactly this; Despite all the hand wringing about extinction of wildlife; the funding for protection if species us woefully paltry . If this brings in revenue, ( and also helps with the cull plan which you need in order to manage and balance the populations, then it should be done. Just arming and training the game wardens who have to fight poachers ( who are organized gangs ) is eye wateringky expensive. This has been going on for years; one of the best and most successful wildlife reserves in Africa ( in Botswana) derives much of its funding this way. Like most Aftican governments, it is nearly broke, and gets little outside aid for its wildlife preservation activities . It relies heavily on the Wildlife tourists, and also on the paid hunting.

"I prefer to do my big game hunting down a lens rather than a barrel. Fact is people pay much more to shoot them dead rather than see them in the wild. Makes me sad to see some fat fuck proudly pose by an animal that's going on the wall. " I agree ,,,,,, but until we reach a time where such attitudes are universally adopted some kind of trade off is needed to safe-guard endangered species,,,

" The lesser evil, the bigger picture. These issues are deeper than what we see at face value. I find pictures of a rich fat man proudly sitting astride a majestic animal he's just paid a fortune to shoot, the distasteful side of the coin.
