It will have an internal battery that is charged via the lead/plug...

There is a little ^ next to the time on your task bar at the bottom of your screen.

Click on that and there will be a battery icon. You'll be able to see if the battery is ok or not.

just open the start menu (windows logo) and type in power saving, or if on wndows 8 use the search bar for the same thing.

you should find something that says 'change when the computer sleeps' or similar, and that is where you change the settings.

Check to see if the fan is blowing ok st the back of it or is it full of dust as often happens with desktops it could be that it's overheating and shutting down ?

"lol ok. Dont tell anybody but talk about dust "

should be alright when it's been cleaned out.

i like taking my laptops to bits and fiddling with them, surprised they still work but it does seem easy enough.

If you were closer I am sure I could sort all of your broken computers. I have been a computer/software engineer since 1998. They really are simple machines once you know your way around them.

Lol you didn't say what operating system you are on. I am seeing a lot of problems with sleep/hibernate/shut down at the moment after people have upgraded to windows 10.

Ok I upgrade loads of computers to win 10 and it is generally pretty painless. You said your son used the pc last, is there a chance he may have messed with the settings?

" My desk top keeps going into sleep mode , any ideas anybody "

If it's a desktop, there is no battery you have to worry about.

but need to know what the system is to offer proper help, if windows what version? same goes for OSX or Linux.

I suspect someone activated a theme or screen saver which has power save mode enabled.

clearing out the dust seldom hurts so long as you don't touch the motherboard with the vacuum cleaner. but it's probably not the cause. that would power down by overheating, not go into sleep mode.

Right click the mouse on the background picture anywhere on the screen.

a menu appears, select Display Settings.

from there look at the options, you should have something like Power & Sleep.

Mine is set to turn the screen off after 10 minutes, and to sleep after 15 minutes.

You can also go into the advanced options and fine tune how it is set.

Invoice by Email, check out the sage instructions they are probably better...

But if that doesn't work for you don't print and scan, simply print to a PDF by selecting Microsoft Print To PDF as your printer, save the file with the invoice number as the filename in a folder for invoices, then put that file into your Email.
