I am off to the Quays next week to stay with my daughter. She will be at college during the day, and while I have visited a few times before, I haven't been on my own. Is there anything worth visiting during the day around the area?

Loads to do. Depends what you want.

Salford Quays has the Imperial War museum, BBC is based there and do tours.

You could see if you can sneak on to the Corrie set as that's now there.

If you like Football, Old Trafford is over the way.

Lowry outlet for shopping.

Jump on the tram and you're in Manchester centre within 15 mins.

Pretty much this for Salford Quays but tram into the city centre there's multiple free museums to go and have a walk around, either Trafford Centre or The Arndale for shopping and obviously hundreds of bars and restaurants.
