As you say, that of Shakespeare sounds stilted, that of Chaucer is almost unrecognisable, whilst before the Anglo-Saxons invented punctuation sentenceswerewrittenlikethis. But there are modes of speech that are applicable to certain situations. Getting the best out of a situation can be swung by correct English usage, although if I were talkin' to da yoot I'd adapt my speech accordingly. | |||
