"My morfar (mother's father in Danish) used to take the Jews to Sweden in the blue boats during the Second World War....anyway I was at a holocaust museum in Israel and there was a plaque with his name on...I remember growing up and he hated anything German. I watched this film when it first came out with my mum and she was in tears the fact that her dad risked his life to help those who was in need. My morfar was the most amazing man and I miss him dearly " Absolute respect to the man, such actions by brave people are inspiring.. watched the documentary about Nicholas Winton recently who helped to organise several trains and rescued nearly 700 jewish children, not ashamed to say watching him when he was in the company of them as elderly citizens was very moving..

"The little girl in the red coat & then later in the film you see just the coat on a pile I wondered whether anyone would comment about it on this thread as I've found when I've spoken about the film previously, people haven't noticed her & the red coat. I completely know how you feel.

"The little girl in the red coat & then later in the film you see just the coat on a pile Made even more poignant by the rest of the film being back and white. It is such a heart wrenching scene.

I just read my post back and I referred them as Jews instead of Jewish...he saw a lot of people killed by the Nazi's because of their actions. My dad also was involved in the Vietnam war..they to me are men that I fell in love with at a young age.

"Went to Krakow in December and saw locations where it was filmed.. Brilliant, moving film.." By coincidence the Krakow ghetto was liquidated on 13th/14th March 1943.

"I have just watched this master piece of a movie today and couldnt beleive how moving it was. Spielberg is a complete genious. There was another man called Raoul Wallenberg who was a dutch man i beleive who like Oscar shindler spent most of the war helping dutch jewish people to get away from holland in a very similer way.
